Bluetooth connection problem

I can't get my HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop to connect to my Sony Ericsson k800i mobile phone via Bluetooth. My phone has no problems connecting to other Bluetooth devices. Any ideas anyone?

Re: bluetooth connection problem

The computer have 3 buttons. One is the DVD, the second is de Media Player, and the third is the wireless devices switch. If this button is not lighted, all wireless connections are off (both WIFI and Bluetooth).

Bluetooth & sound

Generally, connecting phones via bluetooth to a laptop just allows for file transfer between the two devices. It is not to input sound from the phone through the speakers of the laptop. You would need a bluetooth audio device for that such as bluetooth speakers or headphones

I am keeping my Pavilion Ze4805us as long as I can. Despite its age, it came equipped with a wireless card. Can I get Internet access on it via my wireless phone by tethering an air card to it? Or do I...

If your phone and your computer has bluetooth, you may use the phone as your modem. Though internet tethering using a mobile phone is commonly done via USB connection. Air card depends on your ISP. Im pretty sure they still have PCMCIA cards available, since your Pavilion is pretty old.

Do you have the Jabra bluetooth part that goes into your computer? You have to go to your phone settings under bluetooth and make it sync up. Your phone will sync, not your headset. You are trying to sync the wrong thing.

Enabling bluetooth

Are you sure that bluetooth is installed? You should be able to look in the Device manager, usually listed under Network Adapters to see if there is such a device. If so, it is usually enabled using the HP network configuration icon in the Tray (where the clock is on the right hand side of the taskbar).

Wireless connection no longer works after vista upgrade

HP uses "branded" wireless modules, which means it's got to be HP or it doesn't get to play.
Does device manager see the wireless device? I've had similar situations with the 8000s. Always the driver or the wireless utility was the problem. Try letting windows manage the device, or if you already are, disable that and use the devices utiliy to manage it.
BTW, most systems consider BT as wireless.
Good luck, hope that helps
