These lines are scan lines and years ago with the old tvs this appeared when their was a problem with either the tube on the way out or the scan coils breaking down ,now with a projection type tv then it doesnt have a tube to wear out but it must still have the equivilent of scan coils that are focusing and projecting the image. But iam possibly an old dinasaur and should stick to answering questions on cars to pass some time away .Either way i would imagine thats its time to buy a nes big flat screen and consign this to the ark,Philips electrical stuff is btrilliant i must admit ---but finding anyone who can repair it ??

Vertical deflection circuit has a problem. Overwrapping is from a bad electrolytic capacitor. The vertical coil is the larger of the two coils around the CRTs yoke. Follow its two wires down to the connector on the main board and follow the traces there to get to a heat sinked IC with maybe a dozen pins on it. (Get the service lit if you want but this is how I do it) This is the I.C. that drives the vertical deflection. Replace all the caps in the vicinity.

You should reset the unit after the kit has been installed.

On the CRT circuit board(picture tube), you will find R3340, which is a 10 ohm 1/3w resistor. The location of the resistor is printed on the bottom of the ckt board. It is burned open, replace with a 10 ohm 1/2w resistor. This will solve your problem. The original resistor was sized too small, should have been a 1/2 watt. This resistor is mounted standing up on ends. Mount the replacement resistor the same way. You can probably get the resistor at your local Radio Shack. You will probably have to buy a package of 5.
----- The resistor is located on the crt(cathode ray tube), pcb(printed circuit board) socket.
The resistor supplies apx +200v to the collectors of the r, g, b, video driver transistors. If this voltage is low, it causes excess brightness(excess beam current), causing the set to "shut-down".
----- thanks keep upodated.

check out this the replacement method of kit
    ----------------
I found out that the problem was the H. Drive Transistor (7404) .
You'll need to open it up (obviously), discharge the picture tube, disconnect a number of connectors (so that you can partially remove the mainboard to work on it) and replace two resistors (3239 & 3414), and transistor (7404). The kit includes semi-instructions. Just replace the components at the locations identified with the new hardware. It will also have an additional component (5402) in the kit as well. Also replace it as well.
This fix is similar for all of the Philips TV's models for this set design. The only change between them is the resistor value for 3414. The repair kit contains all of the resistors for the sets. The models are:
    25PT6341/85, 26PW6341/37, 27MS6341/37, 27PT5441/37, 27PT6441/37, 27PT6442/37, 27ST6210/27, 28PW6341/85, 29PT6441/44, 29PT6441/85, 29PT6541/44, 29PT6541/85, 30PW6341/37, 32MS6341/37, 32PT5441/37, 32PT6441/37, 32PT6442/37, 32PW6341/85, 32ST6210/27, 33PT5441/85.
Be carefull the transitior in this repair kit is improved versus the old (early) design. Because of the tightly integrated printed-circuit board, soldering on it takes some skill, especially when removing the old transistor and replacing it with the new one. if the componets are soldered properly and fitted to right area it will work other weise it will not work and the tv will show any other problem.if there is any other problem then do not ON/OFF the tv again n again as this will short the components you have connected and you will have to again replace them.instead of doing any other thing.just recheck the components whether they are connected properly and not got short.if necessary remove them again and re-solder the components again and check.this components are of bit good quality so it will not get damaged if removed and resoldered couple of times.but take care the board does not get damaged in removing and resoldering the components again n again.--------
    this will help.
    thanks.

Sharp Aquos TV Error code

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.
Some model Sharp set uses Philips digital board kit.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.

Model #37MF331/D37 THERE IS NO PICTURE AND NO SOUND BUT THE POWER BUTTON IS BLINKING GREEN

I have one of these wonderful units. Most common failure is power supply. There are three capacitors that tend to fail early and often.

New PS board is around $200 and a guy on ebay has a repair service just for Philips LCD TV power supplies for $99 (you know it's a common problem when there are whole businesses being created to fix the problem).

Also on ebay you can buy a philips LCD TV 'power supply repair kit' for under $20 which has replacements for the cruddy parts that philips put in at the factory.

The number of blinks of the LED are actually a blink-code, which, while typically wrong, is supposed to help point out where the problem is. Most common flashes are 4 based on limited googling on the problem.
