Premiere elements will work well. It's one of the better consumer programs out there because it has so many features and allows multiple file types imports and exports. It's a little complicated but I like it because it allows you to use a lot of formats and it give you all of the program features right away.
Pinnacle is also an option. It is not as complicated. It does not give you all of the features, but it is easier to use if you can get past the bugs.
Another option that I would not recommend is Movie Maker. It's free on your computer. However it can be very buggy. Simply plug your cam in and capture.It also has relatively few file export options.
