Question about Logitech Z-540 Speaker

1 Answer

Intermittent popping sound

I recently purchasded and set up a new Z-5400 5-1 speaker system to work with Sony KDL-32D3000 tv and HXD870 dvd recorder. Tv is connected via optical and dvd via co-axial cables.
System works well and sound very impressive. However every so often (about 22min) there is a disturbing 'pop' sound that can be quite startling. This occurs when using tv or dvd. Could this be due to a static discharge or what. Any ideas as to solve the problem would be appreciated.

Re: intermittent popping sound

Its due to earthing leakage! Get your Earthing wiring checked by electrician! then your system will ROCK!

I have a Bose lifestyle 50 (from 1999) and just purchased a new Sony Bravia TV. How can I connect the TV to the Bose sound system?

unless your "Bose" has an optical or coaxial digital stream audio inputs, there is no way of connecting TVs audio output to your receiver(home theater). to by pass the TV itself, connect analog audio output off your cable or set top boxes. those, still have analog audio out. If you need to connect more audio sources, use TV as a video monitor, connect all the audio outs to your "Bose", instead. In case of terrestrial broadcast, you may need to obtain digital converter box and use it simultaneously with TV to get your audio out. Also, if you lack DVR, that box will allow you to use regular DVD recorder. It's not going to be HD quality, but better, than nothing. You can't feed HD video signal out of TV set.Only analog.
good luck,

I have an older model Yamaha HTR 5830 receiver and I want to set it up for surround sound (5.1). When I test the receiver all five speakers give back a signal, but nothing ever comes out of the center or...

The broadcaster of the TV station has to tell you they are transmitting surround sound - sometimes they are just transmitting stereo. Also, the media as in CD's and DVD movies must have surround sound embedded or recorded on it to allow surround sound.

Not really enough info here to help much yet.

Helpful info would be:

1.Are you hooking up coax or optical surround from the DVD and have you set the amp to look at the correct type of input?
2. I could be much more specific with help if knew the model number of the surround system and DVD changer.

Is it possible 2 connect altec ada995 to sony KDF 50E300 52 in TV

I was in the same situation you are in when I got my new computer. Provantage sells this little adapter:

The only problem is, since the genius who made this model didn't put an external volume control on the speakers, there is no way to control the volume. they operate at full blast. which is, as you know, heart stopping. to combat this problem i used another adapter I found at radio shack( and plug it into my tv's headphone jack.

hope this helps. If you find another way to control the volume PLEASE let me know.

I have connected my new surround sound to the dvd player as everything else runs through it. Also found that it has a seperate switch for 5.1 surround sound (all the speakers active) and ordinary stereo. I'm unfamiliar with yours, but check for this switch, mine was hidden on the back of the base speaker.

Hope this helps

Sound issues Samsung series 6

The speakers that come with built into the units are very limited at best. Better than the old 4" speaker that came in TV sets from the old days, but not by much. Ask if you are not expecting more out of the output than is reasonable.
I would offer that the true design intent is to hook the HDTV into a home surround system, a home system is optimized for and designed for your listening pleasure. I'm guessing that your HDTV is an LCD with a sound bar at the bottom, if so it is for general use and not intended for critical listening.
I have a 61" Series 7 DLP and even with larger built in speakers, the difference is night and day between my surround sound system and the HDTV stand output.
