Hello,
I have a fairly old York heat pump, model # E1RC030S06A, serial # EEEM176773 that I want to wire an outdoor temp cutoff thermostat into. The wiring diagram on the access door is faded and not readable. The outdoor thermostat is a White-Rodgers type 2B61-186. Can this be wired into the outside unit and how is that done? Does it have to be installed in the outside unit and wired into the air handler with the heat strips? Should I call a professional to do the job?
According to what I have read, some heat pumps can be wired for the cutoff thermostat and some can not. Any advice will be helpful. Thanks.
You should call a professional in on this one you can damage alot of expensive parts trying to do this on your own without the proper tools and knowledge of the control logic

OK...that's what I thought but figured I would attempt it myself, if possible. I will call my local heat/ac guys to install the cutoff switch. Thanks!
