Re: Battery went flat

Best way is Update windows or reinstalled the Service pack...
After this repair the operating system or remove the unwanted temp file from the windows tem directory or the user’s profile
OR start windows and run the command SFC /scannow don’t forget to put windows cd in cdrom…

Re: Battery went flat

There is usualy some option to his a F key to continue ect ect, when it comes up try hitting F1 or F2, failing that, boot to a windows cd-rom, choose selection repair, and when the repair console comes up and you have chosen drive type chkdsk /r

this is a scan and repair utility, you might have damaged windows by improper shutdown, this may help

Cannot start up the laptop

Hi there.
That really quick flash of a blue screen is the blue screen of death and there is a possibility that the error could be memory related.
What you have to do is remove and clean the system memory and the slots the memory goes into.
Take out the battery and the AC power (if attached)
The memory will be located behind a panel underneath the laptop, unscrew the panel unclip the memory, clean the brass contacts and the slots with a clean, dry, soft paintbrush, then reseat the memory making sure it clips into place, replace the memory cover and reboot the laptop, see if it lets you into windows.

Please post back with the results and more help if needed, good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

My laptop wont boot

How long does the screen display that quote? Sometimes Linux will lock up completely at boot, but usually it will give a message such as "kernal panic" if it does; in your case, if the GRUB boot-loader is failing to find a kernal to boot, you may not have a valid boot-loader configuration file or installed operating system. Or, you may just need patience.
I suggest you try booting from a Live distro disc, such as Ubuntu (DVD), SuSE (DVD), or Damn Small Linux (this is probably the fastest, at only 50 MB) or DSL's Not Damn Small Linux (CD) which still has pretty minimal hardware requirements but includes more tools. Even DSL should let you view the files on your laptop's hard-disk drive and edit configuration files if there are issues.

HP Compaq Evo 1005v Bios problem

well, i could say you screwed your PC badly. now, what you can do is try this, remove the CD, remove the AC adapter, Remove the battery, and remove the bottom plates only from the laptop, and remove the CD drive. look for the CMOS battery which is in a yellow casing. once found, remove the two wires connected to the motherboard, wait about 10 seconds, plug the CMOS battery back in, put the plates back, then the CD drive, then the battery, then the AC adapter if needed and you should be good to go. If not, i suggest bring it to your local computer shop.

Compaq e500 boot up problem

If it were my laptop here is what I would do: 1. Install a new hard drive. 2. Install the operating system. 3. After an anti-virus program was installed and updated, I would connect the old hard drive to the laptop using one of those external USB hard drive adapter cables. 4. If the old drive proves to be readable, copy documents/photos/bookmarks to the new hard drive. Hope this helps.

Computer wont start

Nothing is booting ......when in earnest I say that is the BIOS screen at the beginning not going too. When you say the lights all go but the computer does not BOOT can you clarify please what goes. Now you say the processor fan does not work I imagine you are INSIDE the unit to know this try pushing down on the CPU firmly with your hands it may have dislodged slightly it can do this sometimes.....Ive seen it happen. Now for the not booting I need to know what is if any?.
