Question about Maytag Clothes Dryer Almond Timer Knob Insert
The dial on my Maytag dryer is not working. This particular dryer has 3 settings. The timed setting (which does work), the permanent press setting which goes from more dry to less dry, and the regular fabrics setting, which also starts at more dry and ends at less dry, then off. The latter 2 settings do not count down, meaning the dryer dial stays at more dry and does not move, at all. What is the remedy to this problem?

Does sound like the timer, although the clock is moving, the contact for the heater element is burned out inside the timer, you probably have used this timed dry for your normal day to day use and worn out the contact, new timer required.

I have a Maytag Atlantis Gas Dryer that will turn on, rotate, but will not get hot and dry the clothes. A load of clothes in the afternoon, didn’t dry, tried again but didn’t dry – went to bed after putting on auto dry - next morning the dryer was still rotating and didn’t turn off. No hot air – only cold air.

Door switch / Door switch actuator leverThe dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.
Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.
Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

If this is a gas dryer, I'd suggest an inspection by the gas company or qualified technician. If the jets aren't firing correctly, you are wasting gas and possibly creating a hazard.
