MY WHIRLPOOL GOLD OVEN DOOR STANDS SLIGHTLY OPEN, AND WON'T STAY CLOSED ALL THE WAY UNLESS I PUT A 1/4'' SPACER BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE FRAME ON THE HINGE SIDE.

THE PROBLEM IS THE OPPOSITE. IF I PUT A SPACER TO HOLD THE RIGHT HINGE OUT SLIGHTLY (I USE A COAT-HANGER TO DO THIS), THE DOOR STAYS ALL THE WAY CLOSED.

Sounds like the hinge is bent or the entire door is warped. the spacer idea shouldnt be a problem, although you may need to buy a thicker heat strip to fit around the door for proper sealing.

Ensure that the hinges are well pushed inside the oven frame assembly. Eventually try removing the door and checking the Hinge assembly.

Door is locked after self cleaning

Most ovens with self-clean cycles have a door lock to keep things closed when it ramps up the the extreme heat levels for cleaning. Usually, the door will stay locked until the thermostat sensor says that the oven is back down at or close to room temperature. If you just finished the cleaning cycle, you'll likely need to wait a while longer.

Oven door doesnt close well

I'm not familiar with your oven but most oven doors are very similar in operation. When the door doesn't close well it's generally because the hinges have been stretched/bent when the oven door has been open. To see if this is the case, open the door fully. If it's stretched the door will open past 90 degrees (slope down instead of being horizontal). The easiest way to fix this is to bend it back. Place something as a spacer between the door and the oven on both sides (like a spanner handle or anything strong and about 8mm thick) as close to the hinge as possible. Close the door against it carefully and push the door closed. Do it a little at a time and remove the spacers and try the door each time until you are happy that it closes nicely again. It should be spring loaded closed slightly.

The oven door does not close properly and stays open enough to keep the light on. Whirlpool Gold, Model GR399LX60

If it has a drop down door with hinge on either side, then only solution is to replace both door hinges, as the problem is usually due to weak door springs, and they are not adjustable.
Please rate my solution.
Thankyou.

I removed the range door to clean oven. Now I

NOTE: The door removal pins you inserted must still

be in both sides of the door.

1.
Grasp the door on the sides with your fingers on

the front of the door and your thumbs on the

inside surface.

2.
Rest the hinge hanger so that it is flat (at the

bottom of the hinge hanger on the bottom of the

front frame slot).

3.
Position the door with the hinge hanger slots

almost parallel to the front frame.

4.
Push up and in until the hinge hanger slots

become fastened to the range. Lower the door

and rotate it slightly from the front to the back

until the slots are fully fastened. The hinge

hanger will be close to the bottom of the front

frame slot.

5.
Pull door open about halfway and remove the

door removal pins. Save door removal pins for

future use.

6.
Close the door.

How to remove door for whirlpool oven RBS305PDB2

open the door about 1/3 of the way and lift it off the hinge pins. it helps to have two people do this. when it is time to replace it, put the hinges in that 1/3 open position and slide the door back down on.

Place a hammer handle between the door and the frame at the hinge location.
Carefully apply pressure on the door to push the door closed.
This will often re-set range door hinges.

Oven door stays slightly open

The unit may be out of plumb ( square to the floor ). I suggest you get a level and make sure the stove/oven is level and if it's not, there are some levelers ( where legs would be on the bottom ) that can be adjusted with needle nose pliers or a cresent wrench. If this doesn'e work, you may have some hinges sprung and need to replace them. Good Luck
