Question about Air Purifiers
Well, you're on your own here, but I can offer some ideas. If yo feel kind of handy, open it up . Take some screws out and get into it. What have you got to loose? It doesn't work, so you can't really hurt it. You may find something wrong and you can fix it. It could have a fuse or a bad wire or something. It really isn't something you can take in for repair. It would cost more that to buy a new one. Maybe you have a friend that is pretty good with fixing things. It's your best bet!

One drop of water on the blades will cause it to turn off. Make sure it is dry before reinstalling the blades. I wash mine before going to bed, dry, then let it sit till morning before reinstalling. Also the button that turns it on and off is not very positive you must push it hard. People think this thing is supposed to clean up very dusty air but it is not so good with heavy dust. What it is best at is clearing out smells from a damp moldy house. If you have a damp house you will love what it does. But if you have a very dry house that needs a humidifyer you might not like it. it produces some ozone, natures own dissenfectant, that naturally kills mold is why it is so good in a damp house. if I run mine on high all day I can smell the ozone if I have been away from the house. If the ozone gets to strong I just switch to a lower setting or turn it off a couple of hours. In a dry house the ozone can, if left on high to long cause your bronchial tubes to burn some. Ozone gets a bad rap, without it life in the south would not be possible mold and fungus would kill us all. As for hissing I have friends with them and some of them hiss louder than others but all hiss some. You can hear all of them on an AM radio. The powersupply will switch on and off to apply a charge to the blades the lower the setting the longer the off cycle. An AM radio will whine when the powersupply is charging the blades. I think the problems that Sharper Image had are due to a poorly written manual not informing users what to expect, and making claims that the unit cannot live up to. But in my damp moldy house it is wonderful
