Re: HDS728080PLAT20

Theres a multitude of areas you could look at. Being that it is a Parallel-ATA Drive, I'd start by making sure your BIOS is supporting/set correctly. Second, have you Already installed an OS? for that matter, is it a new or used HDD? Has it booted for you before? (on your system), the HITACHI drives are usually pretty good. More info would be helpful if you can.

The comp detecting the HDD is irrevelant, the fact it detects it means only it has detected the electronic part of the drive, if the actual mechanical part of the drive, and the platter are failing, then it will not work, i suggest taking it to someone who can test it.. you will know then

My hitachi hard drive Hitachi HDT721064SLA380 isn't detected by computer and i can here a sound "tic tic" in the HDD ,Thanks .

Hi Welcome to Fixya!
Your hdd is making that sound mainly because it could already be damaged inside. That is also the reason why it is not being detected by the computer.
Same thing happened to me with my 120gb Seagate Barracuda.
Consider in replacing the hard drive on your computer.

Hope this could help!
Have a great day!

My pc don't detect hdd

Hi harbinderkur. If you have data on the hard drive, DO NOT try to use any software to test it, because it WILL stress your hard drive and probably you are going to loose your chances of getting it back.
Try using other computers, if you have a Windows PC try a MAC by getting an external hard drive enclosure and connect it via USB (believe me it works and also the other way around). Im talking about if you dont hear any clicks when starting the hard drive. In case you DO hear clicks (the famous click of death) then could be several things, the System Area, or the logicboard, the heads, the platters, etc (things you cant fix yourself) but please... in case your BIOS does recognize the hard drive, dont use any test software because you might make things worse. Like I said try other OS first. I hope this helps and please don't forget to rate and write positive feedback for our free support today. Thank you :D

HDD Problem

The info is not clear as to if it is a desktop or laptop . However what u could try is reseating the hdd and also get into BIOS by tapping F2 and u would find a option to restore defaults, after restoring check if the hdd is getting detected . Also make sure that external peripheral like Ext hdd and other usb devices are disconnected. Update once u have tried this.

DIY solution for data recovery on a failing Hitachi HDD

Yes it is possible to data recover from this hard disk to using "active partetion recover v2.0 or above" software. This software should be registered and also bootable disk. It will be possible to data recover, if it will be detect in dos mode.

Insert the bootable disk into CD-Rom and choose boot from the cd rom and now check your disk is detected or not, if detected follow the instruction and your all data could be recover with your complete partions.

Good Luck

Cloned hard drive "C" (WD 40GB) to A Deskstar 8oGB using external enclosure. When I remove the old drive and install new drive and boot up I get Msg drive 0 not found retry or enter setup. If I enter setup...

there are few thing you ahve to keep in mind

there are two type of hard disk
1. IDE

As per your hdd capacity it should of IDE type.

Now there are two IDE slots on motherboard. One is Primary and other is Secondary

You can fix two hdd with one IDE Slot that mean you can fix up upto faour IDE hdd at a time

Now again there are Primary master and Primary Slave

Secondary Master and Secondary Slave

Now You have to examine what was the location of previous hdd
1 Primary Master
2 Primary Slave
3 Secondary Master
4 Secondary Slave.

Now you have to make a HDD master or Slave.

just in between data cable connector and power cable connector there is a jumper. that specify the master or slave. do reply me if it works well thanks

Burners cannot be read

Do a search for PC Fixer, a free tool. I had this problem on a Gateway I was trying to add this drive to. PC Fixer fixed the CD-ROM problem, but the drive seems to not be compatible with the Gateway for use as a master boot drive.
