Take the bucket off first.
The cage is clipped at the sides and at the front.
Get a flat screwdriver better still use an old credit card and carefully unclip the front first then the sides, with it being plastic it may break!

DC04 has lost suction?

Hi there,

If your DC04 doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, you may want to follow the steps shown in our online Support guide to ensure everything is correct with your machine:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc04/dc04-brush-control/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/wand-suction

The filter may also need a wash - in normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for the filter to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call us on 0800 298 0298. Our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

Best wishes,

No suction on floors but OK on hose

Hi there,

If your DC04 picks up as normal through the wand, but not through the cleaner head, this may be due to a blockage in the machine. The filter may also need a wash. To locate and remove any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

My dyson DC07 animal does not have the suction it once had I saw a dyson program that showed a filter in the top of the canister I was just aware of the filter around the wheel. Is there one on top of the...

Hi

The DC04 Dyson has a filter at the top, but the DC07 has one at the side on the bottom and one underneath the cylender.

Take all the parts off your dyson and throw them in the washing machine and then put them back together

How do I replace the belts on a Dyson DC04 purple

That model has a clutch unit from which the two drive belts are located. It is a technical job to strip that unit down to change the belts, so the easier solution if you have a snapped belt, is to replace the clutch unit (that comes with belts on it). A recycled one represents better value for money, and you can get one here: Dyson DC04 clutch unit.

I have a Animal Dyson DC07. While cleaning the filter I laid the vacuum down . Now I can not get it to stand upright

Have a look at the following link:

http://www.dysonmedic.com/DC04%20Folder/DC04%20upright%20fix.html

It is aimed at the DC04 BUT at the very end of the article, it says the DC07 suffers the same problem and the fix is very similar.

Dyson dc04 motor runs but has no suction.

I would make sure it is the motor first by isolating the sounds to just the motor. Take off the dirt cup, both filters, and belt, then run it and see if the sound is still there. If it is, you need a new motor. If it isn't, you need to look for a clog, or bad roller bearing.

To take the motor out first undo the wiring running down the backside of the unit inside of the switch housing. Then take the four screws out that hold the outer motor housing on, and the rest pops apart. Once you get inside, the gaskets make it a really tight fit, so you might have to hit the motor shaft with a rubber mallet to get it out and use penetrating oil on the bottom gasket to get the new motor to slide back in.

I guess there is no easy explanation. Let me know how it goes.
