This requires initial alignment of the cabinet. Open the lid of the cabinet. Place the cabinet in front of the washer base. Tilt the rear of the cabinet up. While looking through the lid opening, slide the bottom lip of the cabinet under the front of the base. Then carefully lower the cabinet onto the frame. As you go forward with the cabinet, grasp the right and left rear corners with your hands and sort of pinch them inward to keep the cabinet aligned to the base. You may have to position the water fill flume under the rear of the cabinet. Once the cabinet sits squarely on the base you re-insert the cabinet clips and push down to lock them in.
The important part to remember is the front lip of the cabinet goes under the front lip of the base. The 2 sides of the cabinet go on top of the base rails.
I am including a link to a video to assist you in removing and replacing the cabinet. The controls in the video differ from your model but the cabinet removal and replacement is the same.

I was given a whirlpool ultimate care II washer recently, and the lid switch is broken, but I cannot find what the model number is for my washer (believe me, I have looked EVERYWHERE for it!), and the part...

Usually the model number is on the lip of the inner rim of the washer when you open the lid...near where the water comes into the basin. But even if you can't find the part number for the switch or the washer, you can just defeat the switch by taking the two colored wires from the switch and twisting them together...no switch needed then!

My Whirlpool Ultimate Care II doesn't finish the cycle. It fills with water and then it stops. It won't go to the rinse or spin cycles. I think we've fixed this before, but I have no idea what part to buy.

This is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. If the washer fills, agitates, then stops at the rinse and won't drain, or if the washer does an initial fill, then stops, this is a symptom of a lid switch malfunction.

The following link explains how to access and/or replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug.
If the model number you have this listed under is correct, the lid switch part number (if required) is 3949247. The lid strike (if required) is 358684.

If the lid switch is found to be defective, it can be purchased at applaincepartspros.com for about $23.

This is a very simple repair, but if you still have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Washing Machine Rinse cycle not workin

Most of these spin related problems are attributed to a lid switch malfunction. A washer that fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle and drain is commonly caused by a lid switch. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price.

Let me know if you need further assistance. I hope this helps you.

How to remove back & top of a whirlpool ultimate care II washer

I'm not sure of the model number of the stove but usually slide a putty knife under the control panel between the bottom of the control and the top of the base. There is a clip on each side then the panel will tilt back and you can take it off. After that there are 2 gold clips that hold the back on to the base. Remove them by snapping then out of the base. The the whole thing is loose and the base (where the lid and sides are. Comes out as 1 big piece. If you get the model number from under the lid, you can go to http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action?intcmp=xsite_Sears
and it will show you a breakdown of the machine. Let me know if you need anything else.

Whirlpool washer ultimate care II lsq8500JQ1 top...Problem

Ok folks to change the lid switch on these and many top loading Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, etc is quite easy.

Steps to replace the lid switch:

1. Remove unit from AC.
2. Remove the loading door from the unit, or using some duct tape tape it closed.
3. Using a small flat bladed screwdriver find the 2 release catches on the front of the unit between the top cover and front panel. These are just snap claps to hold the top cover down. To release the top you will need to compress the latch using the screwdriver. Start with one side, then the other. Once you have released both clips the lid will lift up just like the hood of your car.
4. You will now be able to remove the lid switch from the unit.
5. Install the new switch and close the hood of the unit.
6. Test the repair by running the unit though a complete cycle.

A great place to order the replacement part for the unit is:

www.appliancepartspros.com

They ship same day on orders placed before 3pm EST. Overnight shipping is available, however I usually opt for the 2-3 day ground shipping and save the money.

If this switch replacement does not take care of the problem, you might need to replace the control board located under the front panel. This replacement is also very easy and takes about 10 min from start to finish.

Hope this helps everyone. Cheers,

Keith

You might have a bad lid switch. Are you able too add clothes to washer when it agitates without it stopping? If so check the lid switch.
