-   I've been dealing with similar problems for the 1.5 months i've had at&t dsl. finally this evening the at&t tech mentioned using bridge mode and enabling PPPoE on the Linksys. We'll see if this works for more than a few days.
Meanwhile, I run my home network as 192.168.XXX.YYY where XXX is not 1. Any one know how to change the Motorola 2210-02 to another group address? -   Guest
I have att yahoo dsl which I installed about a year ago. The process required bridging the ADSL Modem (in my case a speedstream 4100) and accepting dynamic IP addresses and configuring PPPoE on the WAN side of my Linksys router. The ATT support person walked me through the entire process over the phone even though I was comfortable with making the Linksys configuration changes as I had to do the same in China without technical support. The modem configuration was no more difficult than the router configuration as it was performed from a web browser too. The biggest warning was that to reverse the modem change (if desired) required use of a reset button because the web interface was disabled as a result of the configuration change. My advice to you especially if you are willing to attach the Linksys router to the telco modem is to contact the ATT highspeed DSL support line and see if they will walk you through it like they walked me through it. Reviewing your Linksys User's Guide and understanding the configuration of that device would probably be appreciated by the ATT Support person as well as assuring you can access the Linksys router to configure it during the call.
Motorola 2210-02 uses a ip address of 192.168.1.64. So I set the router ip address to 192.168.2.1 and fixed the problem of no communication between modem and router..

I have a virgin broadband modam and a linksys wrt54g wireless G Router, but i don't have the CD, I connected the router to the modem but could not get internet even though my computer said i am connected. I could or at least use to be able to connect to the routers web page http://192.168.1.1/ manage to make some configurations but I have left 3 security ports open 1.Block Anonymous Internet request 2 filter multicast 3. filter internet Nat Redirection. Is it dangerous to use the internets with these ports open? I read some blogs relating to how one can get internet with the linksys wrt54g which said to take out the cable from the routers internet port and place it instead into one of the four routers ports this is what i have done. I then could get internet but have been unable to obtain wireless or routers web page, not even when I converted back the cables to their original positions i could no longer obtain routers web page. can u plz advise me thanks . And can you tell me do I have to have the CD inorder to have this router fully functioning? I was under the impression one does'nt until i encountered these problems.
