Question about Lowrance Lms 522c Sonar Gps Chartplotter With Internal Gps Antenna

1 Answer

Sonar inop at most times . onec in a while it works fine

I have a lorance lms-522 . At most times while looking at the sonar screen there is a lot of clutter at the top of the screen and vary little detail about the depth or the bottem . once and a while it will work fine.
the conectors all seem clean . and the pins are all in good shape . I tried a wire wiggle test but can find no real answer to the problem.
could the signal be corrupt by running the cable to close to a battery ?
the transducer is molded into the botem of the boat I dont see that it has moved at all .

(1) bad transducer. (2) bad ground from unit to battery. The cable next to the battery will have no effect.

My LMS-522C keeps losing it's position on the GPS.

I'd suggest calling Lowrance.. Those guys are very helpful with step by step support... I just purchased a used boat with a 525c df on it and been troubleshooting some problems with it. Central time zone and best to call right when they open or turn on the phones at 8:15.

Hi,when i switch on my lms-332c the map does not come up on the screen. If I remove and replace the map card it works perfectly. Can I fix this? regards nigel

I am guessing that the card you are using is a NAVIONICS chart? There have been some Lowrance units that were made around the same time that have had problems recognizing a Navionics chart right from power up.

Make sure the LMS-332 has the latest firmware version which can be downloaded from http://www.lowrance.com/en/Products/Marine/Full-Size-SonarGPS-Chartplotter-Combos/LMS-332C/Downloads/LMS-332C-Software-Update/

If the update doesn't help, this is going to be a compatibility problem with the LMS-332 and that particular card. You will need to replace the card or upgrade to a newer unit...but probably can just get used to removing and replacing the card when you turn the unit on.

Lowrance Lms 522c 5" Screen Color Internal Gps And 200 Khz Sonar

If it is normal in deeper water, it is most likely just returning stuff in the water (debris, algae, anything floating around...choppy water can cause this). Try installing the latest updates from http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Software-Updates/

If it doesn't help, adjusting the sensitivity or setting the SURFACE CLARITY option from the SONAR FEATURES menu to LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH...whichever gives the best results.

Loosing position on GPS

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like your internal module is on the fritz. I am pretty sure you can buy a external puck and a harness and it will work perfect. I did that with my hummingbird 997.
