When i press the power button, the blue light comes on, it beeps, lens pops out but retracts immediately. camera turns off

It needs either service or repair

I had this problem with my Nikon CoolPix S500. The problem was that my step-daughter had dropped it while the lens was out, causing it to get wedged out of alignment. On close inspection, I could actually see that one edge of the lens was protruding just a little more than the opposite edge.

The fix was to gently but firmly press or tap on the edge that's protruding a little more, just to get it sufficiently unstuck for the low-torque built-in motor to retract it properly.

Once it's unstuck, you still need power it off and on a couple of times to reset and recalibrate the in and out positions. Good luck!

This indicates that the Camera lens is retracted, to D.I.Y be careful not to be aggressive with the Gadget If the lens is retracted, hold up the camera to your eye and look at the lens. If you see one end sticking out a little bit, push that side in and press the power button. It should work. If the lens isn't retracted, push the lens around until it is in its regular position. When you press the power button, it will retract and come out again and should work fine.

i had the same problem a while back. I fooled around with my camera lens a bit and it turned out that one side of the lens was sticking out a bit. I pressed down on this and pushed the power button and it worked. The next time I turned it on the same thing happened but if you keep doing the same thing it should work.

If the lens on the camera is stuck out, look to see if it's a little crooked. If it is, try to gently straighten it. If it still won't retract, try to gently push it in as you turn the power on.
If it won't turn on (the green light blinks and it beeps 3 times) push and hold the 'power' button and the 'play' button at the same time for a few seconds - it worked for my S730. Good luck!

zoom wont retrack saying zoom error

I had the same problem, and fixed it by wiggling the lens a little, when turning it on.
After a few tries, it finally wiggled free, and the lens retracted.

Try turning it on while manually pulling the lens assembly ever so lightly. Also try the same thing pushing it in, if that doesn't work.

ok have same problem press the power button and and the play> button at the same time. your screen will come on but not lens. then hold the play button down untill lens come out. this will work for you , you may have to do it a couple of times but it will work
