Same with the P4SD-LA (COBRA) mb on a HP Compaq Presario SR1034NX - It turns out it was the PS2 connector that was unseated that appears to fail the keyboard test in the POST!

I DID experience this symptom at least one other time, and I thought it had to do with failed memory, so I cleaned dust debri from the tower and reseated the memory - inevitably, disconnecting and reconnecting all of the connectors including the PS2 keyboard connector! The description of two quick, short beeps with then six short beeps appears to be more accurate than me saying two short and six long!

Hello
You may have the reboot or restart wires backwards.Or on the wrong pins on the motherboard.

Here is a link to your mobo. Shows correct hook up.

Also be sure your memory sticks are in proper slots. If you have 2 they need to be seperated.
One in one channel the other in the second channel slot.Usually the slots are color coded.

I downloaded the audio drivers for my p4p800-vm asus motherboard .....says there are no conflicts but i still cant hear any sounds....speakers are working properly and nothing is muted

Play some music then get some headphone and try the audio ports with a green ring. See photo

http://atr.k12.hi.us/tutorials/tutorials/sound/images/ssintegrated.jpg

Sometime the audio is only working via the audio ports located on the front of the computer case. Other times it only works via the audio ports on the back of the case where all the connectors are located.

3 beep at the start

Thats a standard mother board warning...back when i built a few computers i got this all the time it meant "no Memory" or no ram chips were installed or that the memory was not compatible it should just beep three times with about a second delay in between each beep...then thats your problem...your ram might be dead! if it has 3 short beeps and boots up fine it could just be a start up beep i know of older computers beeping quickly 3 times before booting....though ive never delt with asus boards only Intel. but i doubt it would be much different
hope this helps,ben

Robert,

Above is a rough diagram of the Front panel connector on your Motherboard. Your Power LED should connect to pins 1 & 3 if this connection does not have the power LED come on with the PC then reverse which wire you've attached to those two pins. (As LED's are polarized they must have current flow in one particular direction to operate) Pins 11 & 12 are your Hard drive activity connector

Hope this helps you

M2a-vm mother board

Hi auriaskate,
Currently you are using the onboard PCI video adapter. This graphics adapter uses you're system memory to function.
If there is a problem with you're system memory the beeps can lead one to think there is a problem with the onboard video.
You can not remove the onboard adapter so there may be a problem with you're system memory. (I doupt you're memory is bad) but on the other hand it might not be fully installed correctely. Power off the PC & unplug the power cord from the PC.
Please remove you're system memory & firmly reseat it.
Plug the power cord back in. Start the PC & listen for any beeps except the 1 normal beep known as P.O.S.T = Power on self test. Any beeps after that there is a problem with a device connected to the board.
You're Asus M2A-VM uses an Award bios. Click on the link below to see what Award beeps mean.
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm

Try the memory reseat & check. Let me know if this helped.

4 seconds long beep

I think that either you have a bad power supply or it is not connected properly. I suppose it could also not be supplying enough power.

Try disconnecting all of the connections to the Motherboard and reconnecting them. Make sure they seat properly. Try a new power supply. You can get a good one from Newegg.com
