Hi there I've got a Miele G572 dishwasher that works perfectly, except that it trips the circuit breaker when it tries to fill with water. The heating works, the timer advances, the spary arms rotate and it drains well. It is a second-hand unit that worked for about 3/4 of the first cycle, then it tripped the earth leakage detector. Cheers John

As the machine trips the circuit breaker only when it tries to fill with water, is it possible that the problem is a solenoid?

  • gthrust Sep 05, 2009

This dishwasher is all mechanical (no microprocessors). The solenoid is right close to the tap (not in the machine as with many models), so there is electrical wiring that runs along the hose to the tap.
It is my understanding that the circuit breaker would trip not because of the extra current used (although this could cause it to trip) but because the current is leaking to the ground.

    Hi mate
It does seem like the obvious solution. Is there any way that I can check whether it is that? I'm pretty handy with a multimeter.
    Cheers
    John

How can I check whether it is the solenoid that is faulty?

Many thanks. I've now got clear steps to take. Greatly appreciated. Cheers. John

If it it is tripping the circuit breaker when filling , then the problem is localized to following parts:

Inlet Valve.

Wiring Harness to Inlet Valve.

Water Level switch.

Timer control Board.

After disconnecting power the parts can be checked looking for trace of shorts , blown capacitors on timer board , or burnt areas.

Replacement parts can be purchased from Miele, ringing the number printed on the owner manual.

Regards.

I think it is a hardware problem. When trying the filling procedure, the dishwassher is using extra electricity thus tripping the curcuit.

Sir, you can do a thing. When the dishwasher is initiating water intake, at that moment, check the inlet with a multimeter.

It must have had an electrical issue/ problem that was why the former user sold it off.

consult a service centre around you or return back to store with all complaints.

Sorry about that.

Miele G 2630 stopped working. It started and then just stopped now no power

Hi

The power issue with the Miele G2630 dishwasher is due to a blown fuse inside the dishwasher or due to faulty main board of the dishwasher. However, before checking internal components we can first reset the circuit breaker, make sure it is a 15 A breaker. If the breaker is fine then you'll need to disassemble the dishwasher. Try and dis-mantle the dishwasher from its place, before this remember to turn off power and water supply. And also check for the drain hose. After the dishwasher is dismantled, you can remove the back panel of the dishwasher and check for the blown fuse and also check for any loose connections on the power supply board. Inspect for burnt components on the main board.

Please post back for any further assistance. If you are satisfied please do accept the solution.

Hi, My Miele G527 dishwasher is tripping the circuit breaker

unlikely
I would suggest that you get in an electrician to test the washing machine for shorts and insulation problems as it could be shorting out in the motor or ground leakage from failing insulation

G665 miele

Hi, I was having the same problem but with a G572 (that's about 10 years old) though this might help you still as i believe they're all built fairly similarly.

My problem is I would start the cycle and I could hear the motor in the pump turning however no water would enter the machine.

Open the front door and look at the sprinkler on the base. Underneath it is a small tower (about 3cm high) and it has a cap on top of it. Take the cap off (mine just pulled off) and clear any grime that has built up inside of it. Now try to use the machine. (while I was clearing the grime I could actually hear something neutralise, as if there was air pressured up behind the grime).

I hope this works for you.

Miele G575

This sounds like the overflow trip switch has been activated. Some time back I had this problem with a Miele G664. The service man undid 4 screws on the door and removed front panel and found water in the drip tray, He then checked the pipes, outlet pipe had a pice of plastic bread tag stuck in it , this was slowing down the time it took to empty the water and the next fill made it overflow and switch off the dishwasher. He cleaned out the chanel on the overflow that was full of dust and fluff checked the levels to make sure the dishwasher was sitting true. Closed it all up and ran the dishwasher. Perfect!

Bill $160. It did take him the best part of an hour and I live a long way out of town.

Dishwasher tripping the circuit breaker

Andy, leave the breaker off and remove the toe panel (bottom panel) from the dishwasher. Remove the cover of the junction box where the cord connection or wiring is made. Look at the wire caps and see if they are not burnt. Sometimes these connections become loose and arch, tripping the breaker. If so, cut the wires, strip a new end and reconnect.
