SKYPE VIDEO PROBLEM
To test if the Logitech QuickCam is functioning, check the USB cable; make sure it is connected properly. Then click on Start - All Program - Logitech - Logitech QuickCam and see if you can get the camera to capture your image/video. If this works then the fault is with the Skype configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drop off and the WEBcam need to be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - Video Settings and select the Logitech QuickCam Also check the Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save. Avoid connecting the WEBcam to an USB hub. No sound is heard with calls on Skype, I get video, and i hear sounds made by the program, but no sound from the recipient of the caller. I get sound when I video chat Mac to Mac, but not Mac to Windows,...

Ok, by the sound of it both yourself and whoever you're calling have not set up Skype quite right.
On your end, you need to:
  • Make sure you have a working microphone - try using Skype's built in 'Echo' feature (try calling 'echo123')
  • In Skype -> Preferences -> Audio, make sure that microphone is selected.
On their end, make sure they've done the same - they must have a working microphone, correctly setup with Skype in order to send you sound.
Hope that helped!

Windows Vista. Using Skype, the person on the receiving end can't hear me. If I am running iTunes on that computer, though, the recipient can hear the music, just not my voice. I can hear them.

Hi
Start skype. Choose the menu calls then sound settings, select the device through which to speak: web camera, if you are using a built-in microphone or any other bluetooth headset if you are using or external microphone

If you have a laptop make sure your webcam mic is set to default before you go to Skype
Laptop x Vista x Skype
You may have to access your hardware from the Control Panel if you have an earlier OS

Please help me

You need to check if the mic/s is working?
Are you certain the Logitech webcam has a built-in mic?
To check if the mic works go to Start - All programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder and test record your voice and play back to check, also try it with the laptop's built-in mic (if it has one) and the Logitech mic.
If both mics work then you have a choice of which one you can use in Skype, most likely the best one would be the Logitech one.

You need to configure your audio settings in Skype.
When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Select Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.

If you still have problems get back to me with all details and error messages.

Playback distortion

Normal 0 Two things can cause static.
First, If you have your speakers turned up to high it will give you feedback causing distortion and static. I recommend using a headset when videoing.
Second reason is, if you are using a laptop and have added an external microphone between the two it will cause distortion and static.
Not knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the problem.
So hope this is of some help. Bud
