Thank you for your helpful information, but I am considering a different manufacture because the cost of the motor is almost the same price as a new one. Considering we bought the unit one year and one month ago, we were surprised since the original one lasted thirty years.

We are having the same issue with the same product exactly. I shall phone them . The fan cost about $150. A new motor costs $120. Whats wrong with this picture.

    thanks mb

I had the same problem only it was the replacement motor ($34) that was noisy and hot. The problem was not with the motor but the switch assembly. Broan sells it for $30 because it's a variable speed assembly - I think I'll change mine to on/off and save $28.00.

I chose this model as it was at a good price and i wanted a unit with a large fan that would run as quiet as possible.

Large fan, lower speed, less noise.

My 2002 Mazda tribute ran hot. I found out my heater connection was broke. But when I replaced it. It still ran hot and now it taps real loud when the motor gets hot.

Need to discover why it is running hot to start with but not drive if it is causing the motor to get noisy. Overheating can be due to a thermostat stuck closed, cooling fan not turning on, low coolant level etc. Need to get to the bottom of the overheating before engine is damage badly.

Help! Just opened my pool and the pump/motor (which is only 2 years old) is very noisy. Sounds like it could be the bearings. Do call someone to the house, disconnect and take to a repair shop, ord

Disassemble the pump to the point where you can see the whole impeller. Then turn the power back on to verify that it is the bearings, and not trapped debris causing the noise. If it is the bearings the short answer is to replace the motor.

Bearing failure is usually related to a leak at the pump seal. This results from either a faulty seal installation, or the pump running excessively hot (from running w/o water).

When replacing the motor carefully examine the seal plate (where the seal is set) front and back for any cracks or deformity. If the new seal doesn't set exactly, it will leak.

The capacitor should not be hot, so the motor could be drawing high amps do to a worn bearing which could cause the rubbing sound.
With the power off try to move the motor shaft from side to side, it shouldn't move any that way, if it does the bearings are worn and you need to replace the motor and the capacitor. The other cause for the hot capacitor would be a bad capacitor.
If the motor is bad you should also replace the capacitor at the same time.

Motor shuts off, and resets after a few minutes dryer wont run

May be the tub support rollers, If this is problem you will have to remove the tub. Then check rollers to see if they turn free. If not replace the faulty ones. This drag on the motor will cause it to get hot.

Nutone WA6500 range hood fan motor noisy

We have the same product, 18 months in use and the very noisy motor has finally seized up. I contacted the manufacturer and was advised that I need a new motor, motor mounting bracket and fan rotor. The agent was not able to quote me a price for the parts but stated that even though my 1-year warranty had expired, if I faxed them a copy of the original sales reciept they could possibly send me the parts for free under the original warranty agreement. I've done as they asked but haven't received a reply as yet. After reading about all the problems with this product I'm tempted to dump the whole unit and try to find another manufacturer that has a reliable and QUIET range hood.
