Question about Danby DPAC120068 Air Conditioner

2 Answers

My Danby Portable AC has a flashing BLUE light Sometimes it displays a message ER04 The unit works fine then randomly the compressor turns off. We recently had a national disater here in California with a lot of smoke from fires in the air. Could this have clogged something in the unit. To take it in is impossible for me as I can not physically lift or move this device other than roll it. I really need a answer aside from the one I got that was basically saying ''take it to a tech.'' with no concreit detials as to what the code means in detail, my hoses connected to it are not long they are 2 feet at most from the window the water is all empty, the filters are all cleaned someone please help me or I will get very ill. I have paid for this service to get nothing so far if there is someone out there that can define ER04 code in detail for me and tell me what the flashing blue light is I would appreciate it. I again have had the unit for nearly 2 years and NEVER has this happened until we had these fires. There was ash everywhere but I hadnt noticed ash in the vents as they are protected by a screen. PLEASE HELP ME>

this other person said that its a overheating issue and so it truly is a clog. Im so confused im sorry, okay so the hoses the external hose or internal ones, thanks for the link very similar to my model but it has a few differences there is no side water tank on my model its all in the back unless im missing something. So far I have drained the very bottom two holes that had plus and it hasnt done the flashing blue situation a alot of brown gunk came out I suppose thats from these fires.
The last person made me feel like it will explode if I dont have it serviced. so moving on...
To make sure I am doing things correctly clearing the hoses are they the water ones or something else and how?
Also the hoses to the windows are totally clean. Im so frustrated im about to take the rest of the money I have for the month and buy a new portable. I have to sleep in 70 degree temp or I get ill as I am disabled and my brain swells in heat. I really feel pathetic asking for all this help but I have no one to help me and im trying to do this all and the last tech guy made me feel like it will catch fire so now I cant sleep. Well so the code er04 does mean cloged something? and not that my air conditioner will explode?
Please write me back im so upset and too old to be dealing with this crazy situation on top of almost burning down.

    thank you

My Danby AC portable randomly gets a flashing blue light I have been told 3 different thing A) It could catch fire blow up and kill me because it is over heating
    B) the vents are cloged and or tubes
    C) take it to a repair place

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE FLLASHING BLUE LIGE VER BATIM and also in addition randomly a ER04 code shows on the screen when it does this.
I have had the coils cleans the tubes cleand the entire water system drained and the tubes that "VENT AND INTAKE AIR" are not LONG only max 2 feet from the AC unit itself.
ARE THERE ANY vents under the machine? Other than the back main intake HOSES and the MAIN coil area. On the machin e is there any other place I should be blowing out with my AC power condeser air pressure vacume and AC Condenser coil cleaner from a tech that came out and charged 100 dollars to dust off in the event of an explosion (per the ILL ADVISED ADVICE of one tech here?)
please get back to me as I am paying for a service where no one seems to have a straight answer, one tech mistook this for a wall unit as a matter of fact...
I feel like I have paid to be a part of someones BLOG! If I dont get a copy and paste of what e04 means for my unit IN DETAIl and what a flashin BLUE LIGHT MEANS in DETAIL, with troubleshooting tips IN DETAIL i will take this to court and press charges for the Ill advisement of a un needed tech to come to my home. Someone please help as I myself have a disability I am a war vet from the gulf. I have 1 leg and half of a right arm. I am alone in this life and I just need help thats all. Someone please have a little compassion out there.

    Thank you

THE ER04 error is for two reasons.one for water bucket full and other is for power supply getting short in between. ------ IF THE WATER BUCKET IS THE FAULT
the switch is more likely the cause try removing bucket and pressing lever manualy by hand then start it up again and check out.
--------------- but if the power supply getting short then power board needs to be checked by a multimeter and the faulty component on the board needs to be replaced. ------------- check out both the option.any of the one will definately solve it. ------ thanks.please keep updated.please do rate the solution if helped.thank you for using fixya.

The code indicates a clog. Try checking the hose for clogs or kinks, then check or wash out and dry air filter.

You can try to leave unplugged for 8 hours to see if the machine resets itself.

Here is a link to your manual you can copy and paste in your internet address bar:

Your Danby will NOT explode. If they overheat they shut themselves down. The reason for overheating is clogged air vents.

Portable ac Danby Premiere DPA110CB5BP spitting water while it fans.

If you are referring to the unit doing this on the outside of the structure, this is normal. the "Hamster Wheel" is designed to carry a small amount of water and create a light amount of water to go onto the condenser to help with the evaporation and cooling process. If this is on the inside of the structure, the unit may not be level or another issue causing improper drainage.

Hi There,
I would like to help you with this but I need some more information.
Is the display showing any error codes?
Is there a red light blinking?

From what I have learned from a technician, with the weather being so hot and humid in most areas it is likely that the water bucket is full.

If this is not the case, please either respond to the questions above and I will look into this further or you can contact our Customer Service department at 1-800-26 Danby for assistance.

Thanks!

The intermittent sound you're hearing is probably the compressor trying to start. This could be caused by a bad circuit or the compressor motor is seized If the latter is the case, it's time to start shopping for a new AC. As the cost to repair would be almost as much as a new unit depending on the age of your unit. However, compressors usually have a 5 year limited warranty. So check you Owners Manual for details. It may still be in warranty.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Need my users manual

Here is a link to a 12,000 BTU, Danby Portable AC Unit. Since you failed to mention the model number of the unit you have, I can only guess that is the same as yours. In any event, all Danby Portable AC units work the same. You can download and print this manual for future reference.

I have a Danby Silhouette 10,000 BTU portable A/C.. it has recently stopped turning on. The panel with buttons lights up and works, but the unit itself will not turn on. Any ideas on what the problem is?...

If the unit was set in Automatic Timer Mode, it will not turn ON until the set time is reached. Try deactivating the Timer Mode. If that doesn't work. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 15 minutes. During this timeout, the unit should have time to reset itself, so that when you plug it back in and turn it ON, it will have reverted back to the original factory settings.

If you have misplaced your Owner's Manual, I have included a link to a Danby Model that is similar to yours, in the way that it functions. You can download and print the manual for future reference if you like.

Danby dpac120068 blue light flashing with error code E04 and the compressor keeps turning off randomly. What is causing this? What does E04 mean?

Hi,

E04 refers to Overheating. There might be plenty of reasons. You might have seen, if you shut down the ac for few minutes and again start it, It would work for few minutes and the same E04 display is there.

This is tech's job. I am sorry, i am not discouraging you but it requires certain testing that actually what makes ac overheated.

This is dangerous. So, better to call a tech and get it checked!!

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
