I used to connect to my Netgear Router at home. I went to work and they installed their Netgear router. Now I can't connect to my home router. It says "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements"

The techs must have configured via the routers web page. you will have to either reboot the router, or hold in the reset button for 5 sec, then you can reconfigure.

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router
is there any computer connected to the router ?
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
Router set up page is the page where you can check all the wireless settings of the router.

Got a netgear wireless modem from a friend and she

The Netgear site should have to software to download, but with the Router connected to the computer you really should be able to connect to the router's onboard software by, using Web Address http://192.168.1.1 and logging in to the router. Use User Name admin and leave the password blank. Go ahead and set up all the goodies you need, like Security and Pass Codes. I have4 bee4n using a Netgear Router in my home network for many years and have no complaints! This software is the exact same software they have on the setup disk.

Is your ReplayTV and Xbox configured to use DHCP? If not, you may need to configure static IP addresses for each of them.

Connecting laptop to a friend's netgear

You can have your friend log into the router with their laptop and check the setting in the router. Of course, your friend will need to remember what his password is for the router as well. If he doesnt remember that, then the only solution is to reset the router to the default.

RE: My posted. Connecting DSL/Router to DIR-628 internet router

Installing a router to work as the second one on a home networkrequires special configuration. Do the following on the second routerto ensure it (and the devices attached) function properly:1. Connect as local device or bridge - If connecting the second router via Ethernet cable, plug it into one of the LAN ports on the first router. If connecting the second router wirelessly, ensure the second router is set for client mode.Note that some home wireless routers do not support client mode; thesemust be connected by cable. Check your router documentation for detailson its client mode configuration support.

2. Check / change IP address - Most home network routers use a default IP addresssetting. Often, these default IP addresses will not work in a tworouter environment. Check the second router's IP address value andreset it if necessary to work within the valid address range of thefirst router (and to not conflict with any other device on the network).

3. Disable DHCP- To avoid IP address conflicts between all of the devices on the homenetwork, only one of your two routers should assign addresses via DHCP. All mainstream routers provide an option to disable DHCP as part of the router's configuration screens.

(My netgear router supports client mode. The 2wire supports bridged and router mode. My 2wire is the main router. I set up my netgear using my laptop. Once you change the address on the router.. You will only be able to directly access through the main router to the 2701.)

Configure your 2701 IP address to a static address in the 192.168.2.1 range and diable DHCP. Only 1 router can run the DHCP service. To disable Dhcp on the 2701.... log on to 2701> click on home network>advanced settings>uncheck enable DHCP>Next section is Public routed subinterface...Check enable and Aout Firewall Open>Input your main router address and mask>save config..

This worked with the Netgear router.. May not with your router. Good Luck! Hope this helps!

No connectivity to 2nd desktop or laptop - although worked before

Hello....sudden loss of wireless on two computers, in the same home, may indicate that a powerful source of wireless interference has just arrived (since your wireless router light is still on).

1) Does the signal improve if you move the router, or move the laptop closer to the router?
2) Have you had any success with changing the channel on your router? (Login to router > select Wireless Settings > Channel)

If you have not moved furniture yourself, or installed a device which could interfere with the signal (eg a DECT phone), it's possible a neighbour's new router may be the culprit.

Please come back to Fixya if this does not help.

CONFIG. NETGEAR ROUTER

did you install the modem software and the router software? you may also want to use the network wizard to see what it tells you. are you wired or wireless at the pc? if a laptop, did you install the wireless connection (either a usb or internal)?

here is how to set up the network. netgear is the same way.

Cannot access the internet after installing new NetGear router.

you need to change the IP address of the router. Plug just the router into the computer. Open Internet Explorer and go to 192.168.1.1. user: admin password:password. On the main page it allows you to change the LAN IP. Make it 192.168.2.1. Now unplug everything and rewire it correctly. This should fix the issue. Verizon uses 192.168.1.1 for the modem well so does Netgear and this causes the network to not function. So changing the IP of the router should fix this issue and has worked for me many times that I have done that set up.

try using "admin" for the user and "password" for the password. I have this very same router and that was the default settings for me.
