It heats up and shuts down by itself. One has to start again. I have cleaned up cpu cooling vent just now which was almost clogged. Now it does not start. There is green light for power and battery charging light also glows on connecting to power. When switched on, the power light turns yellow and starts blinking. It does not boot. does nothing thereafter.

While cleaning, I followed the steps very seriously and there is nothing visible as unplugged. The fan does not run at the start. The power button tuns yellow from green and continuously blinks. Again the Laptop Model is Toshiba Satellite A45-S150.

Thanks for trying to help me out.

It has been cleaned. After cleaning the laptop does not start anymore. Power light turns yellow from green and contunies blinking slowly on pressing start button. Fan does not run nothing seems working except the yellow light. Any further clue on this...Thank you.

Power connector is okay. if I do not switch on the laptop, it charges the battery continuously and shows the green power light. The moment, power on button is pressed, the green light power light turns yellow and starts blinking. It does not go-off until I disconnect the power and take out the battery.

Thanks for your response. It is not about battery or power. Please go through all the options I have tried. The laptop is not getting switched on.

Hi,

The first step would be to swap Charger. Use this charger in a different model and make sure that the charger is working.

Then, make sure Battery is working. Remove the battery and then plug in the notebook with the help of charger directly. If you do not face any problem, then it confirm that the Battery needs to be replaced unless we need to further investigate.

-Have you ever noticed of the system date/time being changed automatically?
-If it is set to power saver scheme, for how long it runs on battery, without the charger/adopter?
Please try the following:

Run the laptop off battery in power saver mode, it should run for about two hours. When the battery charge is about to completely drain out. Shut down it. Connect your adaptor, fully charge the battery, without switching on the laptop. This procedure will recallibrate the battery.

When the battery is fully charged again, start your laptop off the battery, and check if it improved anything, or remained the same. There is a application called vista Battery Saver available for extending battery power in Windows Vista.
It disables all the power eating applications that Vista features like the Aero interface. It also automatically switches back to a different power plan as soon as you plug your laptop back in.

You can try it from the following link
http://www.codeplex.com/vistabattery/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=16555

The observations I am able to make about your problem is this:

1 Your computer seems to work fine in power saving mode - This implies that your battery is not causing the trouble. Also you did replaced your battery with no positive results.

2 Your computer seems to work fine when plugged in and the battery seems to charge properly - This implies that the charger is fine.

So there is only one thing that is causing the trouble - The OS itself. If possible try a fresh install of Vista, and please try to avoid Aero themes or sidebars. This things eat up a lot of battery power
If it does not solve the issue, the next step would be to Install Windows.

Vista Installation Disc
you can get the details at
http://www.geekgirls.com/vista_superguide_installation.htm
If problem still persists, then It's a Hardware problem. However, that would be the Last step.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

    Now,

I have read all the comments and i am positive, this seems to be an issue with the current sensing hardware on the motherboard and the only thing that you is to replace it.

    Thanks.
