First thing you want to do, is to make sure all the network cables are plugged into the correct devices such as your router, modem and the computer. if all is running well (everything is blinking with lights) go to your computer, open the control panel, select network connections and open it. Right click on the Local Area Connection and right click on it and select repair. Wait for about 2 mins. After that restart your PC. Try to get on the internet. If you are still not able too, you will need to go to the command prompt, you can do this by selecting start then run, type in 'cmd' and enter. You will see a windows that pops open, it should see somthing like c:\Documents and settings\john> or somthing like this. type in 'ipconfig /all' you will hopfully see a ip address and alot of other information. the ones you will need to look at is to see if your dhcp is enabled if it is then this will give you a auto ip address if it is not, you will need to get a static address from your isp. You will try to see if you can communicate with the IP address by typing in 'ping ' then the ip address. for example 'ping 192.168.1.23' if you have not packets lost, then that is a good thing. then try to ping your gateway, this will be your router ip address. you can find this ip 'Default Gateway' if you are able to ping this, you should be able to go online fine. computer has no ip address - 570081d.tif

If you are still not able to fix this please let me know and i will be more then happy to help. keiffertech@techie.com

When I type in the ip address in my browser.....it doesn't open anything. it takes forever then eventually says error. PLEASE HELP!! Trying to find my WPA key so I can connect to XBOX Live. Been trying...

Which IP address are you typing in? The router will have a specific address. Its not your Internet IP address. Go to the Belkin website as the default IP should be th same for all belkin routers.

Every time my daughter uses her laptop, my pc says

Either unplug the router from power source for 10 seconds and plug back in to reset.
Or you may have an ip address on the pc itself that is conflicting with your daughter's ip address. Dynamic ip address are set so they don't interfere with each other. We use 4 different pc's on one router in our home.
You can change the ip address of your computer by going to start menu, then run, then type ipconfig /release, then type ipconfig /renew and it will give you a new one.

Or you can access the software and settings of the router itself by opening up an internet page, go to address bar and type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter.
It should bring you inside your router so you can check and switch any settings.

IP address Problem with Dell Studio 1525

Most probably its the problem with the autonet ip address where the computer picks a bad ip address. If your internet service provider has DHCP enabled you cannot put the manual IP address. If its a new problem try system restore, uninstalling and reinstalling networkdrivers. resetting winsock.(search google)

The iPod is prompting your daughter for her iTunes Store Account details. To create a new account. Open iTunes on your computer, from the menu select "Store" and click "Create Account". You don't need to do anything to the iPod.

Please Help! My IP is driving me crazy!

modem only transmits signal.

router talks to your provider and gets IP address from them, depending on your subscription, you may have a static or dynamic IP.

your computer gets internal (home network) IP from the router, you don't have to worry about that since it is the router's IP address that is seen on the internet (router splits / shares a single internet connection in home networks).

about wireless connection from computers/wi-fi gadgets to the router, must configure the router with the ff:

wireless network name (aka SSID)
security type (WPA/WEP) and password/passphrase/security key
channel (1-12)

the above info must be then set to the connecting computers/gadgets

about wired connection: a working ethernet cable (looks like a phone cord but fatter) and a working computer/gadget ethernet port.

Wii will work - check Wii's website for connectivity options / instructions.
