Question about Optoma Projector Lamp for EP771, TX771, DX607

1 Answer

DX607. Connect Power cord. Turn on switch. Wait while self diagnostics completes. Green Power light on constant. Amber Lamp light on constant. Press Power button on unit or on remote. Watch projection on wall as it boots up. Finishes boot up fine. No errors. Now Power light and lamp indicators sequentially light, then go off. Cycle repeats forever. Is there a way to reset the unit to factory defaults? Also menu button cannot bring up a screen. Probably because indicator lamp is not on solid.

It looks like there is a filter on the same end as the door access to the lamp.

I cannot see how to access it. I do know that when the lamp shuts off the fans stay running. I can hear them and feel the air blowing.

  • tpaterik Sep 05, 2009

I have opened up the case. I have blown out the internals with compressed air. I found no filters.

    I will reassmble tomorrow.

I blew it out with compressed air. Let it cool over night.

    Powered it back on.

Ballast UART error. Green flashes 5 times followed by Amber flashing 3 times.

Where is the ballast? Is it a replacable plug in module, or is it soldered in?

Is there a reair manual for this? I searched the Internet last night and found nothing.

Thanks for using FixYa. This error comes when either the projector is overheating due to cooling fan not working or due to uncleaned filters. And, in worst it can be an old lamp, which can cause this issue. Please clean the filters and also blow off any dirt using canned air. After this is done try unplugging the unit from power socket and then check after an hour or so. Also check if the cooling fans are working and vents are not blocked.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Unfortunately I was unable to find service manual in my database however, the only solution now will be replacing the lamp as that is the only issue.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Replacing the lamp module requires special considerations:
  1. Turn off the projector.
  2. Wait 30 minutes for the projector to cool down and then unplug it.
  3. On the bottom of the projector, loosen the two screws on the lamp cover and then remove the cover.
  4. Loosen the two screws on the lamp module and pull out the module.
  5. Insert the new lamp module and tighten the two screws.
  6. Install the cover and tighten the two screws.
  7. Turn on the projector. If the lamp does not turn on after the warm-up period, try reinstalling the lamp again.
  8. Press enter on the projector or on the remote control to open the on-screen menu.
  9. Press the up (c00589410.gif ) or down (c00589411.gif ) arrow to select Setup and then press the right (c00589412.gif ) arrow.

The projector turns on but won't project any light through the lens.

If this is a NEC VT series projector, Change the lamp. When if it continues to blink amber and not project and image after installing a new lamp check the lamp cover to see if the micro switch tab on the lamp cover broke off. Some models have a built in lens cover. If the cover is not slid over to open completely the light may not turn on.

First thing I would do is to reset your CMOS by:

1) Power down.
2) Remove power cord.
3) Push power button in and hold for 15 seconds.
4) Open the case.
5) ground you self to the case for a second. (touch bare metal)
6) Remove the battery for 30 seconds.
7) Replace battery.
8) Double check all your connections and cards if any.
9) Close the case.
10) Connect power and power up.

Your diagnostic lights indicate "Other Failure". (The one on the right is amber, correct?) That could be anything. Here is a reference for your diagnostic lights:

Try resetting the CMOS first and comment back.

BTW, this will remove your password too, so you will have to go into the BIOS and reset. You will probably get a "Configuration change" message when you first boot up. Press F1 to go in and then do a Save & Exit.

Thanks for using Fixya.
