What is the best enclosure for the diamond audio tdx12d2 subwoofer

Personally for a sealed box i would go with at least 1.2 cubic feet inside volume.
A 19" x 14" x 17" box will give you a volume of 1.6 cubic feet (most common).
You can do the math by H x W x D then divide that # by 1728 (for 12" speaker) to get your enclosure volume (cubic feet).
The best enclosure depends on what your looking for in bass response.

Make sure to use MDF for the enclosure and use 1 inch thickness and use braces as well. This is a beast of a sub woofer. So give it the proper power it needs and make sure that your box is very solid in construction. If installed correctly and given the right power, this sub woofer is bound to put a smile on your face and rattle your bones. I hit 142dB with only one of these subs and im sure if i gave it more power i could hit the 150dB range. DON'T FORGET TO GIVE IT THE POWER IT DESERVES. Have fun dreamsystems.

What size should i make the enlcloser

If looking for LOUD, ported enclosure is the way to go.

If looking for accuracy, build sealed. You will need approx 2 cu ft
To tune this 2 cuft box around 50Hz, you need (1) 4" round port 5" long.

MTX recommends an enclosure of 2cuFt ea. You will only be able to use 1 subwoofer in this application.

Even a sealed enclosure is recommended 1.25cuFt.

You can shove 2 in the vented enclosure, but you may not be happy with the outcome

Hi i have a 15"w3-d4 jl audio sub,can anyone tell me what size antype box i should use ie sealed or ported and the box dimensions

Hi,
I've had a look at the JLaudio website and they recommend 2 box designs, a ported and a sealed.
The sealed box needs a volume of:
2.125 ft3 or 60.2 litres.
To get this you would need to build the box to these dimensions:
22" x 16" x 14.75" or 559mm x 406mm x 375mm
The ported box needs a volume of:
3.50 ft3 or 99.1 litres.
To get this you would need to build the box to these dimensions:
24" x 19" x 18" or 610mm x 483mm x 457mm.
The port needs to be:
3.0" x 10.9" or 76mm x 277mm.
The enclosure recommendations listed above are external dimensions which assume the use of 3/4" (19mm) thick material. If you are using 5/8" (16mm) thick material, subtract 1/4" (6.5mm) from each dimension. Do not use any material with a thickness of less than 5/8" (16mm) as this may compromise the rigidity of the enclosure.
• All enclosure volumes listed above are net internal volumes! Driver displacement, port displacement and brace displacement must be added to obtain the final gross internal volume. All enclosure dimensions above have already taken this into acount.
• When using two subwoofers in a common enclosure simply double the required volume and, in the case of a ported enclosure, use two times the recommended port(s). Likewise, when using three subwoofers in a common enclosure simply triple the required volume and, in the case of a ported enclosure, use three times the recommended port(s).
• We recommend the use of this speaker in a bi-amplified system using high-quality satellite speakers and a high-quality amplifier. We do not recommend the use of this subwoofer with a passive crossover (coil), as this type of device will adversely affect performance.
As you can see it all depends on the space you have available, whilst the vented box will give you a more efficient bass responce especially with the low range frequencies.

If you to go and look at the information about your sub woofer and find out all the information about building or buying the correct enclosure then this is the link to the pdf file I found:
The enclosure info is on page 3:
JL AUDIO 15W3 Tech Specs and box info.
Warm regards
Mike

Should I use a vented box or a non vented box for my ALpha PSW412

Well, First you need to figure out a few things. How much room you have is one main consideration, If you go with a vented (ported) enclosure or band pass (see below) than you will need more room than with a seal enclosure, If you really have no room you can mount them " Free Air" which is mounted on a board and fired into the back seats, the Truck acts as the enclosure.
Now the type of bass you want is another consideration. The best enclosure for maximum bass is a bandpass box. It is 2 subs facing each other with one side fully enclosed and the other side ported. This is best for deep powerful bass but the enclosure can be rather large. Vented boxes are second best (In my opinion) they give you deeper bass and more power than the sealed boxes. Sealed boxes give you less power from your sub and are a little flatter. Some say that the bass is more accurate and tighter , depending on the type of music you play. Rock you would want a tighter bass(sealed) and hip hop or techno style you would want a deep bass(ported). Lastly you have the free air which gives you the least amount of bass and is usually rather flat sounding. If you have the room go for the band pass box, if room is an issue than go with a sealed and specifically design box for you vehicle. Alot of places design boxes for almost every car out there. Just make sure that have a well designed box, It makes a world of difference, than an improper box.

I have a hollywood sound labs excursion 1080D and no manuel

Hello,

Even though the 1080D is a discontinued model and not much support is available, I did find some information. It appears to be a good subwoofer.

  • 10" Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer
  • 80oz. Magnet (160oz. Motor Structure)
  • Composite Non-Pressed Kevlar/Pulp Cone
  • "DWS" (Patent Pending) Double Wide Surround
  • 2" High Temperature Voice oil With Kapton Former
  • Designed for Small Vented and Sealed designs
  • Embossed Dustcap
  • 300W RMS / 600W Peak Power Handling
  • New "EdgeTech" (Patent Pending) terminal design
  • Custom stamped steel "Dragon Claw" Basket

  • The "Designed for "Small Vented and Sealed designs" description would seem to say that it should perform adequately in a truck box. One of the Atrend boxes, either the sealed 10TK at .80 CuFt or the vented 10TKV at .88 CuFt, or a DIY box of similar size should perform OK. You might wish to add some polyfil stuffing to the box. Polyfil, one trade name is "Acoustistuff", will make the enclosure seem larger.

    Hope this helps!

  • 12" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils
  • Kevlar reinforced pulp cone with Santoprene™ rubber surround
  • cast aluminum frame with perimeter venting
  • frequency response: 25-500 Hz
  • power handling: 200-500 watts RMS (250 watts per coil)
  • peak power: 1,500 watts
  • sensitivity: 85 dB
  • top-mount depth: 7-5/8"
  • sealed box volume: 0.57-1.0 cu. ft.
  • ported box volume: 0.75-2.0 cu. ft.

  • For rock, i actually have 2 seperate 12's in slot port boxes i built facing forward. Facing forward reduces a little resonance and spl, but keeps alot of that annoying rattle off your tag lol

    Hope this helps :)
