Question about Mitsubishi WS-55809 55" Rear Projection Television
When I press the power button on my Mitsubishi WS-65908, green light flashes 2 times and hear click on the back of the TV. The screen does not turn on.
2 blinks and two blinks is short protection for this model---most likely one or both of the fuses for the convergence chips are bad--FAo4 and FA05--set detects this and no voltage to the convergence chips and shuts down instantly---this model uses 2 STK-392-570 convergence chips--both with the fuses and any of the blue resistors in front of the chips(they are blue in color and marked 3.9 ohm) that are bad need to be replaced and the set adjusted. I can send you photos of a simular board if you want to know what the fuses look like and the resistors All these parts are located on the middle board(set has 3 main boards) I have detailed instructions for a step by step start to finish repair of this set--if you are able to do the repair yourself you can buy both chips (and the fuses etc) On Ebay--a pair of chips for this set costs about 14 dollars plus shipping.
If you cannot do this repair yourself--look in your area for someone who has done this before--almost any good tech can do it in your home in a hour---some shops charge 300-400 for this kind of repair--I have done hundreds of them here for 200-250 total. If a shop tells you it has "to go to shop" keep looking----now is the slow time of year for TV repair shops--The other person who suggested here it is a problem on the DM board did not read your post --he is speaking about a DLP set made--does not apply to your set--200-250 is a good investment and you cannot replace a set like this for that kind of money--once the chips are replaced the set should not have a convergence problem for 5-8 years.
If you have any questions or need the instructions : email@example.com
I do this here for free so if this has helped you take a minute and give me a vote here.
unlike some other people here--i know what I am talking about
