Some satin strings got caught in the needle bar and now the machine is frozen. Husqvarna Grace 183

My machine is about 6 months old. I have been sewing for the last week regularly for a couple of hours a day. The freezing came on very suddenly and one can see bits of green satin above the needle going into the space between the needle bar and the surrounding hold the needle bar goes up and down through. I don't think this is an old grease problem.

I was sewing on satin and have been for the past day, and have used my machine every day for a week. It is only about 6 months old. Some satin strings got caught between the needle bar and the hole the needle bar goes up and down through. The freezing of the machine was immediate. I have removed visible strings but think that some are still caught making the passage for the needle bar too tight.

Sir, try a hard reset. A Hard Reset means to reset any equipment by inplugging every attachable part, internal or external. This may solve the problem. Thank you Sir.

Hi,

Regarding the frozen issue, there was one of my clients who find out the grease on the machine being a reason for Frozen. The Grease become still and it's almost froze the machine. He removed the grease and add some kind of Teflon Lubricant and it was all set to go.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Have a Kenmore 1357. Was working perfectly until I began sewing satin ruffle onto fleece. Seems to siege. Needle won't even try to go into material. Just goes to top of presser foot and stops.

Is it a mechanical machine (not computerized)? Did you oil the internal metal parts that rub against other metal parts? With an older mechanical machine, frequently the old oil turns to goo and sticks things rather than lubricates. Use only fresh good quality sewing machine oil. Hand rotate the wheel and place 2 drops of oil every place metal rubs metal (including the bobbin area). To help loosen things, direct hot air from a handheld hairdryer into the interior of the machine.

This process was used on an older Kenmore that had totally frozen, but it was working again within 15 minutes.

Husqvarna model 183 foot control no power

anytime the machine does not respond like it's suppose to then it needs to be checked, the foot pedal could have gone bad, or the the sewing machine plug where the foot pedal goes may have gone out

My Husqvarna Viking Emerald 183 has always had a problem with the needle up needle down button - after pressing it once, it often sews anywhere from 3 to 20 stitches. More recently, the machine keeps...

There is a sensor on the upper shaft that recognizes the position that the machine is in. A small disk on the upper shaft that has sections removed from it will block the sensor trough some range of operation and not at other times.I have never seen this in a 183, but you may have a sensor that is misaligned so that it doesn't completely block or clear the beam of light. It will need to go to an authorized repair center for repair. Some of these parts are very delicate. Don't risk damaging something working on it yourself.

I have an Emerald 183 sewing machine. The bobbin thread is too loose. I can pull the top thread out no problem. I tried rewinding the bobbin thread, changing the needle and I do use the right settings for...

Clean any tangles from the bobbin area.

Always thread a sewing machine with the presser foot up so the thread can properly seat into the tension control.

Hand walk a few stitches to see if the thread still feeds too fast from the spool.

When thread pools (falls off the spool) a thread net will help - you can get these at a sewing machine dealer. I use to find them at fabric stores, but have not seen any lately with sewing/serging notions.

When appliqueing in stitch 11 the thread kees looping...

I believe stitch 11 is a zig zag so you are probably decreasing the length to get a satin stitch. You will get a better satin stitch if you select it directly. I think that it is about 29. The machine forms the satin stitch differently than the zig zag and it should look better. If you still get loops on top, you may need to have a qualified technician check the needle to hook clearance. If this distance is too great, the machine skips stitches and you will form loops. Several other adjustments may be needed to get a perfect stitch and a qualified Husqvarna technician should be able to take care of this problem for you.

It sounds like to me you might have some thread stuck in the tension assembly. Possibly some thread "snubs". Also there is an internal service program on this machine that could also solve that problem. That is why you need to take it to a qualified Husqvarna service center to be fixed by a qualified technician.
