Throw a dish towel and a cup full of baking soda in to a 'small load'. Run it through the first wash cycle but turn off before it hits 'Spin' or 'Rinse'.
Repeat several times.
This should get rid of most odours. If no joy, repeat the process using bleach or vinegar instead of (NOT combined with) the baking soda.

Getting rid of lizards on my patio

Best Ways to Get Rid of Lizards
1. Egg Shells: Lizards will leave the place because the odour of eggs will make lizards assume that there is another organism present in the premises. Keep some eggshells around the corners of your house, doors, and windows.
2. Coffee Powder
This is a very effective method to get rid of lizards. Combine tobacco and coffee powder and make balls. Keep the prepared balls on every corner of the house and the places where lizards hide the most. After eating these balls, they will either die or move away from your house
.3. Garlic
Lizards cannot stand the smell of garlic. This remedy may sound weird to you, but hanging some garlic cloves around your house will keep the lizards away

  • Alternatively, you can place some garlic cloves in the corners and the entrances of the house or spray garlic juice in the lizard-prone areas.
4. Pepper Spray
Pepper spray irritates lizards. This remedy will make them run away. Prepare a solution by mixing crushed black pepper and water. Spray this solution all around the house, in kitchen racks, under the stove, fridge and tube light corners.
5. Onion
Onion contains sulphur compounds which are responsible for bad odour. Lizards can't tolerate the pungent smell of onion. Hang some onions around all the doors, windows and all the other possible entrances. Or else, keep some onions in the areas encroached by the lizards. This creepy reptile will leave the place soon.

When I open the door of my wash machine it smells bad. What would cause this? Is there a lent trap with lent in it, causing this? If so were is the lent trap? Matag Neptune Washer.

Hi dear.I'm bit foreign to this model of Maytag. There for I do not know exactly where is the lint filter on it (Refer it's user manual)but I can help with the Bad Odour. If you are doing COLD WASH most of the time with your washer bad odour happens because of body oil & some other deposits(residue) left or sticks the drum after each wash.Cold wash cause that & if it gets worst mould problem going to start up.That's why you have to run the machine empty on Hottest Cotton wash cycle with some bleach every 6-8 weeks to get rid off residue. You'll see the difference.I hope that helps.Thanks.

Smelly washing machine and washed clothes

This is usually because of a bacteria build up on the machine. Suggested actions: Remove and thoroughly clean the soap tray. Remove the waste pipe from the drain pipe you have it poked into and ensure that all is clean and emptied. If your machine has a filter (Usually behind a 4 inch square door on the front towards the bottom of the machine if one is fitted - this depends on the machine and I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with your madel). Finally, take 2 or 3 DISHWASHER TABLETS put them in the machine's drum and wash at the highest temperature that your machine will allow. Modern biological washing powder uses bacteria to break down and "eat" stains. Bacteria creates unpleasant odours. Dish Washer tablets and powder is designed to kill bacteria. Hope this helps

Water in drum

The swish water sound that you hear in the drum is normal. There is some liquid in the drum for balancing. The washer doesnt use that liquid for laundry. The odor smell - you can get rid of it by cleaning your washer. Run empty cycle with bleach and hot water at least once a month. Also use washer cleaner - Tide recommended for a nice cleaner smell. You can get it from any supermarket.

What do I clean my washer with in between washloads to keep it clean and smelling good using cleaners around my home?

Clean out the detergent dispenser and the drain trap first

Then

Put a strong solution of washing soda into the machine before you set it away without a load and on a hot wash (Do not put detergent in)

Let the machine do a full cycle and then leave the door open to let it dry out

You may have to do this twice to get rid of the odour

Also try using old fashioned soap powders which contain bleach and soda.

There is a bacteria build up in your machine due to low temperature washing

Rid of Mildew Smell?

Make sure there are no leaks from the machine. look behind it and check the water inlet hose and connectors for any damage. Also look under the machine for any water as this may indicate a leak from the internal hose and pipe work and / or water pump. Also check that the outlet hose is completely clear of debris and soap scum build up and check that the filter is clean.

To keep the machine clean of waste build up and to keep any bad odours away
1. Remove all items from the washer.
2. Open the dispenser drawer and 2/3 cup (160 mL) of liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment. DO NOT use more than 2/3 cup (160mL) of bleach per cycle as this will lead to product damage.
3. Close the washer door and dispenser drawer.
4. Select the Clean Washer cycle or a full wash cotton 104 F wash (40 C). DO NOT use any higher temperature as this will cause unnecessary fumes
5. Press Start and allow cycle to complete.
6. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open slightly to allow ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
7. Repeat the cleaning procedure monthly
