Headset earpiece assembly has become detached from headband assembly. The post does not want to go back into the hole on the earpiece assembly bracket. What do I do?

The headband post can only be inserted into the earpiece when the earpiece has been sufficiently rotated. (Note that the hole and post are a 'D' shape, not round.) The installed ear cushion is preventing you from rotating the earpiece sufficiently.

Remove the ear cushion from the earpiece by carefully pulling it off so you do not damage the clips that hold it on or the gasket material between the cushion and the earpiece. There are six clips, three on each side.

Now you can rotate the earpiece into the position where the headband post can be inserted into the earpiece.

Carefully reinstall the ear cushion by pressing it onto the plastic clips. Note that it can only be installed one way with the internal plastic support towards the headband.

Sony MDR-RF4000K wireless headphones

Probably a bit late for the original poster, but just in case anyone else comes across this....

I also have the Sony MDR-RF4000K wireless headphones and the problem with the sound cutting out has got steadily worse over time, to the point where I felt like throwing them away. I replaced the batteries (use normal rechargeable AAs with a bit of card to trip the little switch that would normally be tripped by the Sony battery pack), however that had no effect on the problem.

After a little research I have established that the power on the headphones themselves is triggered by a pull switch in the right ear cup. When you put the headphones on, the padded headband is stretched and pulls the switch up, turning the headphones on. The headphones have always been a little big on me, and I can imagine that the headband has stretched permanently in the last few years, probably leading to the switch on being more marginal.

At any rate, although I don't have a fix, I now know that if the sound cuts out, I don't need to take the headphones off - just pull the headband up slightly on the right-hand side, or push the headphones as a whole down a bit, again on the right-hand side.

Broken headband

You can try to strip a little bit of the jacket off the wires and twist them together securely. Then use a little bit of electrical tape to wrap the bare wire. After, you can tape the head piece back together...... or you could buy some new headphones.

Ear pads falling apart

Please follow the proper instructions below

Ear cushion reattachment
If the ear cushions come off your headphones,
reattach them as follows:
1. Fit the mounting flange inside the rim of the ear cup.
2. Make sure it attaches smoothly and uniformly within the entire ear cup. (Do not remove the ear cup lining material).

Ear cushions may need to be replaced due to normal wear and tear. To order replacement ear cushions, call 1-888-865-2700.

Do you refurbish your head sets. The rubber ear protectors & the rubber in the head bar has deteriorated. Thanks Stan Jackson

You should be able to easily obtain replacement ear protectors from the manufacturer and also replacement headband covers.

Need instructions for replacement of headband and ear cushions.

It should be easy - I just eased mine out by pulling on the top and bottom parts of the headphone cushion/pad.

Hope that helps

My lcd is broken on my sidekick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either buy the entire screen portion off Ebay which would only require you to remove the swivel portion and screen or just the LCD (which would be cheaper but a bit more work to replace, albeit simple). With a small screwdriver, remove the LCD from the phone by unscrewing the back of the screen and replacing LCD. You may still need to remove the entire screen from the base and as the swivel portion is on a coil, be mindful that it doesn't swivel after removal. I usually leave one of the screws in place to keep the screen from swiveling, otherwise, if it uncoils just wind the swivel portion to a moderate tightness and then reattach it to the unit after replacing the LCD.
