Question about IBM Wheelwriter 30 Typewriter
The most common problem for this is the hammer solenoid pad has deteriated and it does strike the printwheel with enough force to hit the paper. You can look down on the left side of the printwheel and see the little white or opaque colored round pad, it is probably cracked and falling apart. Easy part to order and tricky to install. You will need a set of tweezers and small bladed screw driver to try and get it in place. I suggest that you take it to a shop. We charge $40.00 dollars plus $ 10.00 for the pad.

First and foremost when you switch it on does it initializes (printer wheel spinning and carriage move?) If that happens the the problem is with your key.It could one key is constantly pressed. So ensure that all key are free.
Hope this helps you.
