I have a Canon Pixma MP 460 printer. When I launch a print it displays 'ERROR CODE 5200' on the printer. The on/off button blinks green and the alarm blinks amber.

How could I get rid of this problem and start printing again?

    Thanks for a reply.

    Regards

    Jake

Well I had the error 5200 popping out on my printer screen and guess what, I did the plug in and plug out thing. It worked in the first place but then didn't. Then I decided to replace the color ink since it was low and I previously had already replaced the black ink. And guess what?! After I replaced the color ink, the error disappear and I could now print. Hope this is another solution you guys could try. It worked for me.

We kept looking for the print head to remove as in Solution 1, but when we could not figure out how to do it, I looked on down to this solution. I too had previously replaced the black ink but not the colored. When I did this the printer worked. !!!!! Thanks for the info.

I went to a local ink store and they told me if the ink cartridge is used to much after it is low or out of ink that it will burn up the head and then it will display this message. I refilled my color ink cartridge even though I was not using it and it worked as soon as I put it in.

Thank you for Solution #2. My MP130 had a "service code 5100". It kept telling me that the print head was not set properly even after resetting it several times. But I did as you said and it fixed the problem.

Thanks to all you geeks with such a nice helping heart. I did read your suggestions and then re-filled my Color Cartridge, and put it back on. After that every thing is working just fine.

I've followed your instructions....................have asked my printer to print................and IT WORKS WAHEY!!
It's still telling me that the waste ink absorber is full.......................if i knew where it was or how to get to it i'd empty it.

waste ink absorber is full, means it reached its limit, you have to reset it and use a resetter, canon service centers has it but you can also try looking over the net for the cannon resetter and download it. I have an experience like this and brought my printer to cannon service center, there i found out that it is only a software based problem.you can reset it yourself if you can have the canon resetter for your printer.

Thank you so much...this is the only solution that I could get to work!!

Posted on Mar 19, 2008

I have found a solution for your problem. (1) With the printer turned on, unplug it (2)Open the top and bring the ink cartridge holder to the middle (3)Raise the gray bar and remove the print head assembly with the cartridges in it (4) Lower the gray bar with the head missing and close the top with the head out (5) Restore the power, wait til the printer wakes up (6) It will tell you to put in the cartridges (7) Restore the print head, close the top and the printer should resume working..... ;)

Hi!!

Bad news!!If that error comes up you can throw it away, its reached end of life, even the manual says replace the printer as it has failed!!Think it will be cheaper buying a new one than having spares replaced on the machine!!

Sorry!!

Error 5200 is a printhead temperature error, sounds like you need a new printhead. The part number is printed on the side of the printhead. it's a QY6 number
