Re: cannot connect to network
The console should pick up the network, that's the way they made it.But in more cases,I have found that It does not.I have one that you have to go to the network detection screen after you turn it on. It fixed the problem.Try that and see if that fix's your problem.

It sounds like you've refused an Xbox Live Update at some point.
You can go into your system options and see if there's an update available.
To check for an update on the Xbox 360 you basically force a new Xbox Live connection:
Press the Guide button (center logo button), bringing up the pop-up menu
Go to Settings
Select System Settings
Select Network Settings
Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network if you're on wifi
Select Test Xbox Live Connection
Select Yes if prompted to update. If you're not prompted and the test completes successfully, you have the most recent update.
1) Connect your ethernet cable to your computer and xbox 2) On your PC, Go to network connections and right click on your wireless connection 3) Click the advanced tab on top 4) Go to Internet connection sharing and check the box, click OK 5) On your xbox, Go to your network settings 6) Edit settings and set everything to automatic 7) Test Connection
You must have your PC on at all times to connect to Xbox live this way.
If this setup doesnt work.
1) Go to Network connections 2) Select both your wireless connection and your LAN connection 3) Right click and bridge the connections 4) Same setup on Xbox as the previous instructions 5) Test Connection.
To get a wireless internet connection for Xbox live, you will need a high-speed Internet connection such as cable or DSL and a router, gateway, or wireless access point (WAP) that is compatible with Xbox live. If your XBOX360 console is first generation, you will also need a Xbox 360 wireless networking adapter. If you are using a wired connection, you will need a network cable. Plug the network cable into your router and the other end into your Xbox 360. On your Xbox 360 console, navigate to "MY XBOX" and then select "system settings" Next select "Network settings" and then select "Test Xbox Live connection" Select YES when the prompt appears asking you to update your software. After you become connected, there are two choices: Free membership of Gold membership. Once you are connected, navigate back to "My XBOX" and select your avatar and then select "Join Xbox Live" If you need any more help feel free to contact me. Thank you for using Fixya
Xbox 360 to network is ok. network to internet is ok. internet to xbox live comes up 40% connected and pops up with update required. when i try to update the bar doesnt move and then it comes up with failed to update.
plug xbox in via ethernet cable, then open network connections. choose the internet connection and the wired network connection. once both highlighted right click and choose bridge connections. then u might have to change settings on xbox but u may be ok.
i had this problem too. It used to work fine when we had comcast internet, but when we switched to verizon, i had problems logging on sometimes. You want to go into the network settings in the purple blade of the Xbox dashboard. go down to edit settings. and input everything manually. it make sometime as you need to look up al lthe information pertaining to your internet connection.
Ok go to your computer, goto START/Control Panel/Network Connections. Then highlight your Local Area Connection and right click it. Click on properties and look for Internet Protocol, then click on the properties button below. See if your IP is set on manual or automatic. If it is manual it should have the IP address showing in the boxes. Write the number down and then put those numbers in the Network Settings on your Xbox 360 Dashboard. I hope this helps.
