Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
Reboot your router/ modem (unplug then replug) and try again. If you are using phone jack, don't let anyone on phone or unplug the phone.

Not a solution but a little help.... Mine still does the same.... Here's what I was told and can't figure out how to fix it! Have 10MB cable modem to linksys 54 g wireless router. Have 3 wired connections (2 computers & XBOX), also have Wii / PS3 / (2) PSPs / (2) IPODs / (2) wireless computers. Now I never have speed issues, and keep in mind not all wireless run or are on at once. Called Playstation because was tired of putting in new game and it would download new software to about 3-8% and quit. They're reply to me which made sense was not my router modem or any of the hardware. (note: my wireless items will intermitenly just not connect then it will automatically repair and be fine, but is frustrating cause it happens all the time). PS3 TECH said this, " Most routers that use Cable DHCP will reset so to speak and check connection every few minutes if not every 30 seconds. Assign each wireless item it's own IP / Port and it will always be connected and not have to always check and restart like it sounds it's doing". I understand what he's saying, I don't have a static IP with Cable and when any item hits router to get some BW it has to recheck again. By assigning each item its own connection point it will let the router and modem do their thing and be connected continuously and then each item when it hits router always is the same and not getting/assigning a new IP I think each time you request some BW......
Sounds good right? I know it is right but...... I have no Idea how to assign each it's own point on the router. I'm a hardware engineer and the software part confuses me. The PS3 guy did give me a 16 number IP port looking address to use for the PS3 assignment, but he said he couldn't walk me through it on the router cause he would be liable.....
So... that should help a little, now if someone can help us all assign individual ports to devices instead of DHCP (CABLE) getting a new one everytime it needs a connection to the 10M Bandwith.
