If it is sort of random then it may well just be overheating. Get a can of compressed air used to clean computers. Put the nozzle on and spray it in every hole you can see without putting the nozzle itself inside the laptop.
Do this outside with glasses on.

laptops should never be used on soft surfaces eg carpet, beds, cushions, etc. Most newer laptops also have more cooling slots / openings. this leads to a fater build up of gunks inside.. Best option is to buy a GOOD 3 fan notebook cooler.

Connected acer laptop to my 47inch samsung tv. display is showing on tv but laptop screen is black

Some computer brands will automatically turn off the laptop screen when external monitor or Tv is used, the reason for this is that the motherboard does not have to work any harder than required, because a lot more resources are used when two screens are used and the ware and tare on the motherboard will be heavy and life span will be shorter.

Blade won't rise

it lowers easy because of the weight of the motor. What I would try and do is unplug tool first and lay on its backside and try and blow all the dirt from the gears/slide assembly. Look for a broken part where the shaft goes thru and if none use a DRY LUBE spray and also check for proper meshing of the gears. After lubrucating while saw is laying on its back look at the gear for any possible binding. Set upright and try again.

I had the same problem on a dv9000 as well.
Did you use the laptop much on the couch/beds etc? (So the temperature went up)? My video chip became "unsoldered" by a manufacturing fault.
If above is the case, please contact your local dealer.
If not, Please try updating your videocard driver (try using save mode with networking if Windows doesn't want to startup the regular way anymore) The drivers are on HP's website, here :

Your laptop is overheating, and it is shutting down to prevent it from more damage. I'm sure it is the CPU that is overheating as you mention burning, or using power hungry application will make the cpu to work harder, and increase in temp. There is a tjmax setting on the cpu that limits at a temperature when reach and shut down to prevent it from overheating. You may need to do some cleaning by blowing off the dust on the exhaust port, or even taking your computer apart and reapply your cpu/heatisink with new termal paste. Before this, check if your fan is working, and that your laptop is getting proper airflow from the bottom, you might need to get a usb cooling fan to help cool it down better in the future. I recommend not using this laptop much or long anymore as it will eventually become overheated and damaged.

I had a Toshiba, did almost exactly same thing. What I think is happening is the computer gets stuck in a loop because of a corrupted driver or maybe virus. It works harder and harder, but goes nowhere.. only getting hotter. Since you cannot get to the system, even in safe mode, to fix it, the next easiest thing to do is to reload the OS windows, formating the HD as you go. There are ways to boot from a CD and run AV sofware, but that's usually difficult at best.

You could try booting off the install CD and do a repair. That might get you running long enough to do a virus scan. Mine had the install OS on a partion on the HD, so I ended up wipeing out the C: and reloading from scratch. Took about 3 weeks to bring it up to my version of normal... (Hate that vista)
Good Luck.

Funky screen on Toshiba A200 laptop

Either its a failing video card or failing LCD and in either case it will be several hundred dollars just for the part.

Most non-gaming laptops have integrated video built-in to the motherboard.

If you have never taken apart a laptop I would strongly recommend against it as you will be dealing with about 80 screws, parts that are taped, glued, clipped together.

If you do decide to the manufacturers generally have a how to guide and taking apart their laptops.
For my own benefit when I repair laptops I lay out sever pieces of paper and label them like back of laptop, front, under keyboard, ect to keep track of screws since size does matter :) when it comes to the screws.

Hope this helps

The mic on the webcam goes crazy and a loud statis comes out randomly. I can't have mic on for long before that problem occurs, please help!

Normal 0 Two things can cause static.
First, If you have your speakers turned up to high it will give you feedback causing distortion and static. I recommend using a headset when videoing.
Second reason is, if you are using a laptop and have added an external microphone between the two it will cause distortion and static.
Not knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the problem.
So hope this is of some help. Bud

Sony Laptop Screen goes Grey

1.What I need you to test is...When laptop monitor go grey try plug external monitor and see that it work fine or not ??
2.Incase it work fine try to give a little tap behinde the laptop monitor and see that any changes...keep try and harder and see

3.Incase if you gave a hard tap also and its still the same but external monitor work fine then....I think you have problem with your LCD monitor coz there are chips that control the LCD crystal and maybe when it goes hot it behave this this case you can't change the have to change the LCD.
