I replaced bulb in my 65HM167 and still had no picture, called the customer service center and went through a long process of reseting the tv which didnt help,In the end i just simply took out the bulb tapped on it a few times put it back and TV worked fine .Back when we first bought the Tv the same thing happened and someone from Toshiba told us to do this and it worked then also.Give this a try before you spend a bunch of money and time on the phone trouble shooting .

Guest...you are not going to have any luck! If you can believe this our TV is STILL broken. And it has been since July 7th!!!! I have been fighting with Toshiba I have reported them to bbb and also to the federal trade commission. I have faxed the work order from the first time someone came out to look at it, a copy of my cell phone bill to prove the first time I called was really way back in July!! It is a main board in the tv and they keep telling me it is on "extensive backorder" Finally they offered us 3 options...a refurbished 65in, a brand new 52in LCD or a full refund in 6 weeks!! I will NEVER buy a Toshiba anything again. I suggest you call this number 1 800 351 5481. When someone picks up tell them you need to talk to Toshiba in regards to a TV, they will transfer you directly to them. The sooner you start a file with them the better because as you can see when I posted this and yes it is still broken. I have also faxed copies of everything we have been dealing with to the offices of Phillip Schoonover who is the CEO of circuit city where we bought the TV and also Atsutoshi Nishida the CEO of Toshiba. You should just ask to talk to Evette....she is the customer service supervisor who I have been dealing with. If there is anything else I can help you with please let me know....trust me I have ALL the information you will need.

SOURCE: reset timer toshiba 62hm116

I do not think failing to reset the Lamp Timer would cause the Lamp not to light. You need to get into the Factory Menu while the picture is on in order reset the Timer. I believe you have a Ballast issue either because the Power Supply is not powering the Ballast or the Ballast not Powering the Lamp. In either case, the only way to know is to have a professional to check it out and give a estimate for repair.
I hope this helps,

SOURCE: toshiba 65hm167 black screen with video input

That is correct, if the lamp was bad then you will not see a picture at all. The fact that you are getting menu means the lamp is good and most likely the processor and light engine are also okay. Check other inputs to see if you have the same problem on all the inputs.

Check that your lamp fan is working. It may also be a bad ballast for the lamp.

Your TV is a DLP one lamp does it all, not like the old projection TVs with the Red, Green & Blue CRTs. Your TV may have a bad light engine or lose cable connections.

Good luck
