Won't start, gas out of exhaust

Sounds like its flooded : excess fuel / wet spark plug.
Empty tank / Clean and dry spark plug. test plug for spark before refitting. If strong spark refit plug / and see if fires when turn engine over.
If it does then refill tank with new clean fuel and attempt to start without choke to avoid flooding.

Doodling 97cc baja, been sitting all winter. Won't start.... Spark ok, cleaned carb, fresh oil, still won't fire up... Not sure how to set the air/fuel mixture either....

The three primary things every engine needs is fuel, spark, and compression. For the few minutes it takes I always check compression, then eliminate the rest. A fast way is to attempt to start it with a shot of starting fluid. If it starts, you can assume you have decent spark, and the problem is fuel.
Speaking of fuel, avoid "oxygenated" gas (10% ethanol) LIKE THE PLAGUE. It just doesn't work.Is you spark nice blue clean consistent?
I use an old spark plug attached to a battery clamp, and set the wide (0.40+) If the ignition is strong enough to jump it, it's strong enough to fire under compression. Buy a new spark plug, a couple bucks eliminates that concern.
Air/fuel mixtures don't change much, and wouldn't lead to a starting problem. Get it started and running and then worry about that later.

My Craftsman 17cc gas weed trimmer wouldn't start.

Hi There, Check the primer bulb for tare or pin holes. Replace it. Check and clean carb jet it maybe plugged with debree. Also check for spark which you didn't say. Replace with correct plug.
Note; Do not use strong cleaners on rubber seals (O rings and gaskets) They dry up and crack.
If needed use a dabble of grease on seals

Homelite U2T608 edger/trimmer will not start. New plug gaped properly. Dropped carb, dissembled and cleaned out all ports. Fuel is flowing and is new. Motor wont even "cough." Suggestions?

Check the magneto for spark. Remove the plug and reinsert the wire and hold it against the engine as you pull the starter. You should get a nice, blue spark. If you don't see one, the magneto to flywheel air gap may need adjusting or the coil module is bad (rare). You basically need good compression, fresh fuel, good clean air intake, and a strong spark to get it to "pop." I realize you may know these things, but, most people are unaware of the .010"-014" air gap required between the magnets on the flywheel and the legs on the coil module. Disassembly is required to get to it and you take the same steps you would if you wanted to fix the pull rope. A standard business card has about the proper clearance needed between the aformementioned parts. Post back if needed. I am here to help.

Won't start, won't fire after starting fluid is used, checked spark and its blue and very small. Has new plug. Suspect bad magneto, can it be tested? Thanks Don't know model, label on handle says Poulan...

First off you should never use starting fluid on a 2 cycle engine. Serious damage to the piston and combustion chamber could result. Try changing the spark plug and if it's neccessary to prime to start use a squirt bottle with the same fuel/oil mixture as required to run your machine. Try squirting a small amount into the combustion chamber through the spark plug hole. Squirt, replace spark plug, and start. Starting fluid also washes the cylinder of an oil and it could cause a siezure of the piston.

My honda activa 2004 scooter is not at all starting it has starting problem plz give suitable troubleshooting for my problem.........

Only two things prevent an engine from starting/running. Always go to "Basics": Spark & Fuel (fuel/air mix). That's it. 1) Remove spark plug. 2) Put the plug back in in the "Spark Cable" just as it is IN the Engine. 3) Scrape a small area clean (down to bare metal) on the frame. 4) Hold the rubber head of the cable with rubber handled pliers (water pumps work great) using this to hold a side of the plug against the bare metal. 5) Turn the Ignition switch to ON. Crank the Engine as if starting it. Note the spark (if any). Is it Blue?=Strong Yellow?=Weak Is it Centered or way of to the side of the electrodes? If you have a good, regular, strong blue/white spark-...Fuel: 1) How old is the gas in the tank? Over 3 mos. Dump it! 2) Always replace/clean Fuel filter. 3) Same trick: Pull the fuel line off at the carb. and crank the Engine. (Careful-No Smoking!) Gas? 4) Fuel/Air mixture. If you have good Spark and good fuel...and Still does not start...Time to check parts. Good Luck

My grass scorpion willn't start,I have changed fuel with a new mixture & spark plug, still no start & plug wet with fuel & exhaust.Any help to the problem appreciated-dealer give me DJ8J spark...

To make sure that you have the right plug, you need to specify the make and model number of your trimmer. The first thing you need to do is check and make sure you have spark to the plug.
Set the trimmer down.Take out the spark plug.Put the plug into the plug boot and set it on top of the motor.Make sure the switch is on,and pull the recoil a couple of times.Look at the end of the plug to see if you have spark, and make sure it is blue.
If you have spark, you might have a problem with your carburetor settings.

2 Cycle Gas Trimmer will not start

it is normal to see air bubbles in line when pumping the bulb. to make sure what the problem is, try starting several times, remove spark plug. if dry, yes no fuel, remove the carb. if wet, place plug on engine block and look for blue spark. no spark means you need new plug, plug cord or ignition module

3 year old ryobi gas trimmer won't start...didn't winterize. I follow the start-up directions and it won't turn-over.

This could be caused by tons of problems. I'm going to assume you've checked the spark at the plug first. If not then you'll want to pull the plug out, leave connected to the wire and check to see if there's a blue spark when you pull the starter string. When my trimmer finally wouldn't start (or keep running) I found there were small cracks in the fuel lines. It was causing problems with the prime (for starting) and then with the running. My engine wasn't leaking fuel so it was hard to find.
