You don't get different mainboards for laptops.....sorry. It's not like desktop pc's where pretty much any mainboard will fit. And even if you could, it's not really going to improve things, as you are using the same speed cpu. Your laptop has 2 ram slots. That's the most you will see on laptop mainboards.

Adding ram is probably the best bet. That laptop shipped with 1 gig of ram.....which is not enough for Vista. I bet it's quite slow. Vista wants 2 gig of ram to be happy, and 4 gig to really motor along. Laptop ram is cheap for that machine, so check it out. Ram is not expensive, and will give you an immediate, very noticeable improvement in performance.

Hope this helps. Post a comment and let me know how you make out

My MT3705 is not recognizing the harddrive or dvd drive

If both the hard drive and DVD are not recognized then you're facing a motherboard issue. This is a common problem unfortunately. The chip that controls the operation of the DVD, hard drive, and all other peripherals (keyboard, mouse, USB ports...) is prone to lose contact with the motherboard.
To repair this problem you'll either have to get a new motherboard, or repair the one you have. Here's a great tutorial for repairing laptop motherboards with FSB controller issue. The tutorial is for a HP laptop but the principle is exactly the same.

If this was helpful and informative please vote with a Thumb Up. Thank you.

Gateway MT 3422 problem

There has been a lot of problems/ complaints about this particular product. That is why I always recommend HP notebooks.

You can take it to a service centre where they deal in Gateway products but I bet you might need to replace your motherboard.

Good luck.

The cursor is jumping I have a gateway laptop with vista operating system

first i would check the connection between the touchpad and motherboard, unless it was bought new and never opened before
would it have a virus or spyware that makes that happen?

No video after upgrading ram

Did you accidently unseat the video card? Doublecheck to see if you completely seated the RAM and make sure you installed the correct RAM for your motherboard. Hope this helps.

you would have to open up your laptop. its located on your motherboard. If you are not familiar with cracking open a laptop, I don't recommend it to you.

You probably have the function scroll button on. See the blue numbers on the letters? press function scroll to take it off and see if that is your problem.

MT3705 will not show harddrive or cdrom

at first I would think that a harddisk format would fix it.

but it sounds more like that your ide controllers on the motherboard is broken.
you'll need to get the motherboard replaced.
