Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Bought two cards for Panasonic Lumix

And the same thing happened. I am leaving on vacation in three days, so this is especially frustrating. The card that came with my camera has very little memory, so I would like to use these new cards!

The lumix takes SD or SDHC cards .. it doesnt say how big they can be but there may be a limitation .. make sure you format the new cards before using .. thats a menu item in your camera ..

Ok, came accross this problem. After searching and searching, I downloaded the user guide ( who knew?! ) and the reason that is happening is because the Lumix DMC-FZ7 is not able to process an SD card bigger than 2 GB.

I switched it to a 1 GB and camera is back working!!

I hope this helps

1. If you can get into the camera menu, find "reset" and follow the on-screen instructions. 2. If you can't, remove the card and every button...leave it alone for 20 minutes....insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

Couple of things with this camera and I can feel your frustrations it took a few minutes for me to confirm my suspicions of what may be happening.
First off is the SDHC card unlocked here is a diagram
The next thing is after you make sure the memory card is unlocked attempt to format the card, that's format not delete pictures files formatting allows the camera dn memory card to properly communicate between each other.

Here is a diagram of the memory card capacity of yhour camera, it is for an SD card but SDHC generally are larger capacities, to me you are over the edge of the camera capacity.

Not finished yet, if you have fallen into this unfortunate happening you maybe able to update your camera firmware (which is software for a camera) to a newer version that will allow a larger SDHC memory card. The web link to updates and downloads can be searched through the above address

Lumix DMC ZS1 w/4gb card not recognized by Panasonic PhotoFun software, and camera will not power down.

Called Panasonic's Tech Support and talked to a real person (!) on Thanksgiving Day(!). She suggested not disconnecting or turning off the system, as it might damage the SD card. Instead we concluded it would be best to leave the camera alone, and allow the battery to run down. I did, then removed the card. Bought a (Sony) card reader next day, and it works great. Just copied the disk directly from reader to computer, ignoring the Panasonic software.

What is the maximum size of sd card that can be used in the lumix fz20 ?

This camera uses the SD standard - not SD HC. The highest capacity mentioned in the manual is 1GB althought the SD stanard supports up to 4GB.

Panasonic FZ18 digital camera

Could be the PCB board ($250.00 part! + labour) as this happened to mine. However, because I bought a new unit off of ebay, Panasonic wouldn't warranty it! So it sits at home waiting for a part.

Lumix FX9

Fed up with the zero response from Lumix, Panasonic and Matsushita I came up with my own solution.......I bought a Canon Digital as replacement. 9 Mega Pixels, 4 times digital zoom and 20% approx. of the price I paid for the heap - of - **** Lumix.
Bye- bye Lumix, Pana and wont be seeing me as a customer again.
