Question about Sony STR-DG510 Receiver

1 Answer

High volume low sound

I just got the Sony STR-DG510 reciever. Everything came together nice and I ran the auto calibration. I have to turn the volume up to about 50 to start getting any sound out of it. I have tried this with the TV, DVD and the sa CD/CD modes. I get nice sound from it, but it seems like there should be more output at max vol., it just doesn't get loud. I use bose surround speakers and a 600w velodine sub. Any suggestions welcome, I'm going for a beer.

Have the same issue need the volume setting on more than 50 to listen to TV. The unit is New. Tried the resets, didn’t help a bit. Does not matter, DVD or TV both appear to do the same thing.

I have the same issue. The sound is pretty good ..........once I crank up the volume past 50. Is it because the receiver is only 100 watts and my speakers are higher than that?

Check the volume output from your components, and make sure they are not set too low

I just bought a new Sony STR-DH510 reciever, I connected a sub woofer and 2 surround sound speakers to it and it worked perfectly. The next day I go to turn it on and it will turn on for about 30 seconds...

Problem is in the amplifier output stage...there is probably a shorted component...the short could have come from a bad speaker..or the speaker wires getting touched together while it was on...you could return to store if it is new and get a new one...maybe it was a return and accidentally got put back into stock

Low sound at high volume

Hi,

THe problem is with the variable resistor present behind your volume control knob, try replacing the volume controls variable resistor, this must work fine... this is a common prblem for all the music equipment that has knob control for the volume....

This resistor can be replaced with your product warranty, contact your seller for the details regarding warranty...No need to woory about this, this is a sommon problem for most of recievers

I'm trying to connect my Sony STD-DG510 Receiver to my karaoke machine but the sound is not coming out the speakers and I'm trying to figure out the problem, I already checked the Connection to the...

You don't say what input on the Sony is connected to which output on the Karaoke machine (what model?).

Assuming you want the Sony to do the playback from your karaoke machine...

Take the K's audio output on an RCA cable pair to any of the Sony's available analog inputs, for example one of the connectors labeled: CD, TV or SAT. My guess is SAT is unused in 90% of homes.

Select the appropriate source on the Receiver and rock on. You could even play with some of the DSP surround simulation modes to hear the K through all of your speakers.

No sound coming from Sony Receiver STR-DG510?

Sounds like you are pretty close with this one. If you select fm tuner do you get audio. If not you may have the speakers on the wrong a-b setting. Make sure the audio from your cable box is not muted or turned down.

Error 12 message on my Sony STR-DG510

error 12 is when you autocalibrate and do not have the microphone connected, when that is the case the receiver can not detect the speakers.

No picture?

I called sony, even though the manuel shows that you can use a component wire to hook up the set top box and hdmi for the tv and dvd sony claims that you can not do this. The cable box must also be wired with an hdmi cable going into the video 2 port.sony claims it doesn't work using component and hdmi together because the receiver is unable to up convert. I hope this helps. I have not tried it yet (i'm at work) we'll see what happens when i get home.
