Question about Weiser Lock Powerbolt 1000 Lock

I have had the powerbolt 1000 for two years and it worked fine for a long time but recently it just keeps beeping. I have changed the batteries several times, sometimes the unit works for a while and then starts beeping, other times it happens just a few minutes after changing the batteries! I had an older unit that lasted for about four years before it died and I replaced it with the current one, and for the last several months I have had the beeping problem.

I have my random beeping problem now solved. Like so many of you, I too would have beeping sounds coming from my lock and there wasn't anything that I did could to fix it. My symptoms were EXACTLY like so many other postings which led me to believe there could be a mfct defect. I called Weiser's toll free number. After describing my problem to the lady(grouchy lady #1) she said she would send me a new key pad and it should arrive in six or seven days.I asked if this was truly the problem, response"I'm sending you a new one aren't I".I also asked if this was a common problem.response" I don't know, there's thousandsof them out there". After waiting one week I again call the same toll free number and(HAPPY CHEERY Lady #2) says, Oh yes, I'm sorry for the delay but we have run out of stock and have had to get the mfctr to produce more keypads and there is a delay as they are on backorder.Still cheery and friendly says there has been a problem(yay Someone admitted it) and you sould get the key pad in two weeks.If you have any other questions or concerns about delivery please call back.Thankyou Happy Lady. My new keypad arrived yesterday installed it right away and VOILA, problem solved.(note:grouchy lady#1 could have very easily turned this consumer to a shlage only customer,Happy lady #2 has regained my faith in positive customer relations.

I contacted customer support... they tell me the FAQ information on their own website is incorrect. The opposite is true, therefore the following is correct:
  • If it does not beep, the powerboard needs to be replaced
  • If the unit continues to beep, the keypad needs to be replaced
Here in Canada, they will send you a new one within 3-5 days free of charge. Call customer support:

To determine why your lock is beeping abnormally, please follow these steps:
  1. Take out batteries and unplug powerstrip.
  2. Let it sit for 1 minute, then put the batteries back in and wait another minute.

Began to beep in intervals. Changed batteries and it worked a couple of times then beeped twice then touchpad will not work, Five minutes later it beeped steadily for 10 seconds than stopped. Will not...


Why is my Powerbolt 1000 unit beeping?

This is the relevant excerpt from the Powerbolt programming and troubleshooting instructions:

"To determine why your lock is beeping abnormally, please follow these steps:

Take out batteries and unplug powerstrip.
Let it sit for 1 minute, then put the batteries back in and wait another minute.
If it does not beep, the keypad needs to be replaced (17733-1).
If the unit continues to beep, the powerboard needs to be replaced (A17734-3,3 Powerboard 1470 brass finish; A17734-3,26D Powerboard 1470 satin chrome finish; A17734-3,5 Powerboard 1470 antique brass finish)."

Since you've already gone through the battery change, try the battery remove-reinstall recommended above. If that doesn't work for you it suggests that you need to replace the appropriate Powerboard for your lock.

My lock works for awhile then stops. The beeps sound all the time, then stops locking & unlocking using the keypad. Then a day or two it works again.

Electronic keypad stops working after 5 or 6 uses. If I pull then replace a battery, it beeps once then works for another 5 or 6 times then stops. Pull the battery again and the same thing. Any ideas?

I'd recommend changing the 4 alkaline AA batteries at the same time.
