Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I bought a (Wireless-G) 802.11g PCI Adapter with speed booster made by Sabrent for my MDD PowerMac G4 so I can have wireless internet access on that computer. However, this device comes with a mini-PCI interface, and my G4 does not have any (only full PCI slots). I went ahead and installed it anyway, but the computer does not recognize it. The box does say the adapater is compatible with Mac OS X (10.3 and 10.4), and I have 10.4.11. Is there anything I can do to make this work or am I out of luck?

As its compitability issue.you can try reinstalling couple of times.as the computer is not recognizing nothing can be done.but many times if the installation procedure does not gets fully complete or any required file gets missing then this happens.you try reinstalling and checking it couple of times.if still the same problem then its compitability or installation issue. get the device checked at local pc repair shop as they have all the required drivers and operating system available they will install it at their place and check out.if its operating system they will give you upgraded version to load.if its installation driver problem, they will provide you latest which supports your system. it will take some time but the system will support and work. thanks.keep updated.

What is the security level of router? Is it WPA2? If it is, just try to lower down the security level of your router to WPA Personal.

Can I use tha linksys wireless-g pci adapter card

The signal types and equipment necessary to pickup the wireless network protocol G (or for that matter A, B, or N) are very different from the signals and equipment that are used to receive tv signals using outdoor antennas. TV signals are very basically instructions telling your TV what to "paint" onto the TV's screen. Wireless Internet protocols use a more complex system to send data, be it text, pictures, programs, or a mixture of all of those types of info. There are signal boosters for Wireless Internet protocols, but they are very different from a coax antenna. Most cities and towns now have free "Hot Spots" that allow people with wireless cards to access the Internet for free. Do a search on Google for Free Hot Spots for your area and see if there are any available.

AirPort Password

Hello,

This article provides instruction on the installation of the AirPort Wireless Networking card into a Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics) computer. Similar instructions, with graphics, are included with the AirPort card.

1. Shut down the computer (choose Shut Down from the Special menu) and unplug all cables except the power cord.
2. Touch the metal PCI access cover on the back of the computer to discharge static electricity. Avoid walking around until you have finished installing the card. Unplug the power cord then lift the latch on the side of the computer.
3. Gently lower the side panel onto a clean, flat surface. Lower it onto a soft cloth to avoid scratching the case.
4. Connect the antenna cable to the connector on the end of the AirPort card. The cable is usually stowed on the side of the PCI card guide.
5. Remove the metal clip and pull the AirPort card from the adapter card, shown below. The adapter card and clip are not used with your Power Mac G4.

6. Insert the AirPort card (serial number side up) through the opening in the PCI card guide, and into the connector on the main logic board as shown below.

7. Raise the side panel and press it against the case until it snaps into place.
Instructions for using the AirPort software are in Mac Help, available in the Help menu.

Wireless Internet access requires an Internet service provider (fees may apply) and AirPort (or AirPort-compatible) wireless Ethernet card and base station. Some ISPs are not compatible with AirPort. For more information, see technical document 106590: "AirPort: Requirements for Wireless Internet Access"

Thank You

Belkin n wireless usb speed problem

Hi,

For your connection to reach 300 MBps, not only must your Belkin WiFi USB adapter be an N, so must your Access Point/Router also be N capable.  Additionally, your Internet/DSL connection would also be a limiting factor on your Internet Connection speed.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
