Lightning storm knocked out this tv and one other

No picture, no sound. I was wondering if there is a fuse that can be easily replaced or is the tv shot? It has only really been used as a tv for movies or xbox.

After a lightning storm, my TV will not turn on. Is there a fuse or something on the in coming power that may have blown causing it not to turn on?

Any TV subjected to a power surge will have problems. If you can remove the back cover, do so. Locate the glass fuse. In the best situations the fuse is clear and opened, and replacement will repair your TV. In worst cases the fuse may be blackened, and you will see that many components are burned and shattered. If this latter is true, only replacing the TV is your best bet. In many cases electronics may be connected to surge protectors, but lightning will over ride these devices and cause damage. I have seen this happen many times. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

We have a 19'' Magnavox T.V. its about 4 yrs old and it was working great up until yesterday. Went to turn it on and nothing, no sound, picture nothing! There was a bad storm the night before last and we...

well 4 year Tv's are just that now and unless its Digital it may not be worth the money to repair. Lightning spikes have killed off the ppwer supply box inside. The cost of replacement is $100-$150 ( if you can get one for this model) + 2 hrs minimum fitting at $90 hour. + your transport of this to a repairer. So it may be time to see that your next and new TV is connected to an anti spike power board and when not in use or a storm is imminent unplug it anyway

Toshiba 32A33 television screen is part green.

It sounds like it has magnitized sometimes you can unplug it and it will demagnatize when you turn it back on, otherwise you need a demagnitizing coil .

My tv went dead during a lightning storm. I heard

The sound could have come from one of your power capacitors. You could tell if one of them is no longer operational by looking at them; they will be burned, or blistered, or will be bulging. If this is a CRT type of TV ensure that you only look inside if you are fully aware of how to deal with the lethal voltages that are stored on the inside of the unit.

Turned tv off and now will not come back on,no sounds and no picture the fan also does not work

There is a small fuse in the board beside or close to where your power cord goes into your tv. Pull the fuse to see if it needs replaced. It will only cost a couple of books. Mine did this after a lightning storm.

TV was struck by lightning

If it was struck by lightning, the surge would completely fry the insides of your TV. Your TV probably won't work anymore and you may have to consider replacing it. Some TVs have accident warranties so something like this could be protected, but if not, you will have to purchase a new one.
