What makes Whites appear so bright almost blooming that hurt the eyes

In the model listed here having contrast way too high can cause that--contrast should not exceed 70 percent and brightness should be a bit lower or equal--note as contrast is lowered the white smearing should lessen.

Want to know how to adjust contrast

Very old set--always adjust so contrast not too high--it should always be lower than brightness---say brightness at 75% and contrast lower--if contrast set too high smearing will occur and picture quality will be affected.

We replaced all the projectors in our school 18 months ago for the XE31 projectors, we have had to replace all the bulbs already! and they are originals from Sanyo on the voucher offer, but they still...

My friend, i'm sorry and i hope your sitting down. The person who made the decision to change out the products was not educated about projection enough to make this decision. Let me explain. Your previous projector was 3000 lumens, and had better contrast, but had a lower resolution. The replacement projector was 1500 lumens and poor contrast, but higher resolution. You have basically halfed, your output brightness. The decision maker went the wrong way for this product selection. Brighter is better in the education enviorment.

The good news is lcd projectors only last about 4000 operational hours so you can replace them with a dlp product that will last 8-10 years. good luck

Good luck

Optimum settings for 32LG3000

I cannot give much of a solution based on the amount of detail you have given, but I will try.

Generally speaking most TV factory settings are set too high through the brightness and contrast controls, and this is probably the problem you're describing. I advise adjusting the brightness lower, and the contrast slightly higher.

Try watching a DVD and pausing a particular scene which has lots of dark gray's and white's and then try to figure out the optimum setting.

FOGGY-HAZY PICTURE

The contrast setting should always be more than the brightness setting, it's purely common sense to have the black levels dark and the white levels light. I advise your brightness to be 40, and your contrast to be set to 60.

You shouldn't alter the hue, as most manufacturers would have spent significant time balancing this anyway, so set this to 50 and leave it alone.

The saturation shouldn't be altered too much, the best bet is to set this to 55 and let it be. Also, the colour temperature shouldn't be changed atall, so set this to the default setting and leave it alone.

As for the sharpness setting, this should definitely be set quite low. I advise setting the sharpness to 40, and the reason for this is most people assume that the higher the sharpness the better quality and detail, and they're completely wrong.

If you do what I said, you should end up with a crisp, smooth and colourful picture.

Contrast ratio of tft monitors

Contrast ratio is the ratio between black and white. So low contrast ratio (5000:1) means you can;t see the screen so well in a bright room (where there's a lot of sunlight) A higher contrast ratio (20000:1) means the screen is brighter so easier to see in bright rooms.

Pixel pitch refers to the distance between pixels. The lower the pixel pitch, the sharper the image

Picture adjustment questions

*The brightness control setting determines how bright your picture will be. *The contrast control sets the gain of the video circuit. This determines the difference between dark and light scenes. Low contrast settings make the picture "hazy". High contrast settings make the picture more distinction between dark and light scenes. *The sharpness control determine the frequency response of the video circiut. High sharpness settings give better resolution but also shows more noise in your picture. Lower sharpness settings smoothe out the picture removing noise but also fine detail. It needs to be set for the best all around picture. *Picture Enhancement is pre-set adjustments which give you different picture qualities. You just select the one you like. Stargazer
