Question about TDK Indi DVD 420N (AID+420N) DVD+RW Burner
Is this a new system install?
Do you have a DVD decoder program installed - like NERO?
Was it working in the past on this machine?
If you do not have - or the decoder has been corrupted - a simple re-install of the decoder should clear you right up.
A program should have come with your DVD drive bundle.
If the program you use(d) to watch DVDs was removed - the P/C has no way to interpret the information it is being sent.
Re-install the DVD decoder program (also others available online for free)
Thanks, and keep me posted.

this is not a driver or a firmware problem. The issue is most likely a dirty laser lens, try a dvd lens cleaner disc, or you can try cleaning the lens yourself if your outside of warranty open up the drive, remove it from the computer, use a q-tip with 70% or higher alcohol. I've personally used just water on the q-tip - because I don't have the alcohol around.
wet the other end of the qtip with alcohol or water, clean the laser lens, then dry it with the other end of the qtip.
Here is a video on how to clean the laser lens, its for a PS2, but it does not matter as you would clean any lens like this.

Tips for a great answer:
Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer
Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
hope this helps you
