SOURCE: Another Microwave that shuts down after 3 seconds of microwave operation

This model uses an inverter to produce high voltage. That symptom is an usually indication of a problem with the inverter. Due to the lethal voltages involved, I do not recommend that a person without training and experience ever work on these models. And of course at less than 1 year, this would still be under warranty if you have your sales receipt. You should be able to locate a Panasonic-authorized servicer here: http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/WhereTo/FindServicer.asp?Pass=1 I would mention the exact symptom when you call so the technician can bring a new inverter with him when he comes out to repair it. Might save you having it pulled into the shop. Good luck!

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer. You can find one here.

SOURCE: Panasonic NN-S563 no heat

the magnetron has gone bad, not worth it to repair, go out and buy a new microwave. A $40-50 dollar one will last quite a while.

Let me know if you have any questions, just don't buy GE.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

SOURCE: Panasonic NN-S254BF microwave oven runs for 2-3

See if this describes what's happening:

  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see http://207.234.249.73/mwd/safety.txt , http://207.234.249.73/mwd/disassembly.txt and http://207.234.249.73/mwd/doorsw.txt

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

That may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Microwave (Panasonic NN-S254BF) starts, runs 2-3 seconds, and then shuts off. I have checked the door latch switches, and they are all working like they are supposed to. Whats wrong?

In all likelihood the mangnetron has failed, or perhaps even the Power Supply. or a fault that is shutting the system down for safety reasons You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man. Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

My NN-T994SFR Panasonic Microwave shuts off after 1 second.

My unit shuts off after about 2 seconds. It seems like it tries to go, but it sounds like it stops working and then 1 or 2 more seconds run off and it shuts down. Then you hit start again and it lights up inside and then shuts down. It's only about 2 or 3 years old.Any solutions?

Microwave runs for about 20 seconds then shuts off.

My mother had the same problem and she was going to trash it. Me being an extreme environmentalist, dint wanna let it go to the scrapyard. Got it down to Mumbai India checked with the engineers down here and rectified it. Problem was with the Magnatron. You would need to replace it. Well this one's getting repaired and off to a institution in need like the Home for the Aged rather than some scrapyard.

Touch pad works but microwave doesn't turn on

NO the microwave doesn' t overheat or froze.
I couldn't answer to your question 100% because I don't know this model,
Some microwave don't heat if you don't set the heating temputer on, the power level. I've seen lot's of customer in the past couldn't get heat because all they press was time and didn't set the heat level.
second it is posible it doesn't heat because the magnetron power supply is burt out, this is the electronic board inside the unit below the magnetron, panasonic or know for burning this board to often, if it was I, they would have been design to inposible to blow them . Microwave have gone a long way and notice that the quality is not there no more. The old once or the same thing as the new once's but made more of plastic. The parts (main parts) or all the same design but mad to brake down after a shorter time. The older model lasted a minimum of 20 years, today they have the same magnetron but they don't last as long as before, made to brake. If they brake faster, the re sale or higher so more money to make.
To me it's just insulting to think that way, vehicule or the same , the repeat parts sales make profit go higher. It's all a tratege to make money faster and not respecting the consumer.
Third problem you may have is the magnetron is shut or the cap.
You would need a tech to tell you that part.

Regards

Bob
ps do what 99% think like trough it out, but make shure you understand you're creating polution everytime.

Microwave shuts off after 3 seconds

Although your model number doesn't seem to show up, the NNS950-series units are powered by an high-voltage inverter. And yours has failed. While an inverter (switched-mode power supply) is more efficient from a power consumption standpoint, it is more complex, thus more statistically prone to fail. These should only be examined and worked on by someone who has the necessary technical qualifications. Seriously. Often the machine-soldered connections in a microwave inverter are too weak, so they eventually fail, especially if heat is high in the area. They sometimes fail catastrophically. When not catastrophically damaged, you may hear clicking or squealing and may smell an electrical odor, which is sometimes obscured by the cooling fan. Sometimes a whole new inverter is cheaper than the time and labor required to fix the old one. If a technician is willing and able to troubleshoot and repair the inverter to component level, it will may be expensive, but may be worth it, especially if he or she will resolder and reinforce connections as needed as part of a thorough repair. That could easily make your inverter beter than a new one! You might be able to get some verbal estimates if you call Panasonic-authorized appliance / microwave repair shops and ask then specifically about inverter component-level repair and simple inverter replacement costs for your exact model number.
