Question about KitchenAid KUDR01TJ Dishwasher
Mom...not true. The water fills the machine which then uses its own pump to spray the dishes with the water/detergent. If your dishes are not getting clean, use the recommended amount of detergent. Hard water will require a spot treatment like JetDri or a product formulated for it. Oh, and if the water temp is less than about 125 (if you can keep your hand in it from the tap...it isn't hot enough) you should use the water heater. Oh, and make sure the spray arm holes are clear!

Please check if something is blocked near the top spray arm, also make sure that all holes are open. Use a sharp metal pin to clean the holes on the top spray arm. Make sure the water pressure is not low.
under the screen and you'll need a Torx screwdriver to get to it after you remove the spray arm and screen. Check to see that the path it travels is clear. I have seen these get blocked up by stuff.
Now check if the top arm spins freely and check the bearings for the arm, if they are producing extra friction while the spray arm spins. White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results.
You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle. Make sure that your soap dispenser drawer is opening and closing fine.
Hope this helps... Please post back if more information is required.
