Ryobi weedeater gives a shock if arm is rested on top of spark plug wire. The wire is in the middle on top of the motor and it seems natural to rest arm there.

It is also natural to get a shock from it. Maybe there is a cover or guard missing, if not make
something. Stephen.

How do you reset the windshield wipers to the start position on a 97 camero? The stop In the middle off the window when turned off.

Pull off the wiper arms when the motor has turned off and the wipers at rest. Realign the arms in the position desired and do a test with a mist of water on the glass. The gear alignment is critical to the way the arm rests when in operation and when at rest.

I need to locate the distributor cap on my 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. Any one know where it would be?

It would be on the top of the engine whether front or rear im not sure. It will have either 5,7 or 9 wires plugged into it. The difference in wire numbers is if you have 4, 6 or 8 cylinders The cap will usually be black and be about 4 to 5 inches in diameter. One wire will be in the middle with the other wires others spaced equally around it. The middle wire goes to your coil while the rest go to the spark plugs. If you cant find the cap, then locate any spark plug wire and follow it back..

My weedeater has no spark at all

If there is no spark then I would suggest checking out the plug wire for cracks or breaks If there is none present then the ignition coil could be finished Take it off take it into your small engines dealer and get him to test it.

I installed a new wiper motor. I ran it before installing the wiper arms. it will not stop at zero. it over travels down into the cowling. I try to rest them higher then they stop some where in the middle...

Try to run the motor without the wiper arms tightened down and turn it off so it can cycle down to its rest state. Then install the wiper arms.

Make sure, that the car's windshield wiper wiring is correct for this motor.

Ryobi ss30 weedeater,if weedeater is flooded

If the spark plug is very wet, place the base of the plug against a metal part of the motor, with the sparkplug wire attached to the plug, and pull the starter rope, looking to make sure that the plug has a spark. If it doesn't, that is the problem and it may be that the breaker point gap has to be adjusted or the capacitor (condenser) has gone bad. It is not easy for folks with the typical tools of a homeowner to fix either of these problems, but it can be done. If the spark is good, pull the starter about ten times with the plug out to clear out the excess gas, dry out the plug and put it back in, then try to start it. Too much gas on the plug could indicate that you are pressing the primer bulb too many times or that the fuel adjustment is set too rich.

1995 dodge dakota 2.5 motor has no power from a stop and when you put acc. to the floor you get popping therough throttle body any ideas ??????

you have a dead cylinder. start by pulling off spark plug wires one at a time to hear if the motor changes rpm if it does put that wire back then do this to the rest until it doesnt make a change in the rpm. then u will have to pull that spark plug to see if its firing. whats happening is when the fuel gets put into the cylinder its not igniting and causes the back fire through the throttlebody. fixes put spark plug into wire and lay on block then have someone turn over car to see if theres a spark make sure plug is touching ground but dont touch when cranking it WILL shock not bad

Have a Ryobi CS30 Weedeater, will not start, it is about a year old, did not see a spark, just bought new plug.

If you still don't have a spark with the new plug, then you may have a kill switch wire grounding the motor, keeping it from starting. If it's not that, then you have a bad ignition module (coil).

Spark Plug Change

Check your manual for the firing order. If you can find that, then you only need to find one plug and you can work the rest out.
Take out a spark plug and stick your thumb over the hole. If you've got to do them all, take them all out.
Manually turn the engine over (or have a friend do it) untill you can feel the compression stroke.
At the top of the compression stroke, look where the rotor arm on the distributer is pointing: this is the lead for that cylender.

Gas powered ryobi trimmer will not start

Hi
I found that the plug that came with my unit had an intermittent fault (sparked sometimes, then not all) definately the plug in my case. And yet at first, seemed to start OK, progressively got worse.

OK so youve changed the plug! Now check for spark....Can you see the spark if you pull the cord a few times
(you have to unscrew the plug from the head but leave it connected to lead & rest the plug against the metal cylinder surface using a pair of pliers to steady it and so you dont get a small shock)

If youre getting visable spark when you pull the cord, suspect fuel feed blockage from carb, Test by: Prime the bulb & turn to full choke, pul the start cord, Is there petrol vapour/odour present within the cylinder with the spark plug removed.

Check also gauze air filter behind the roto choke knob is clear, on/off switch (could be damp wd40) Test compression put your finger over the open plug port, plug starter cord, should be a little pressure build up

Hope this helps
please rate my comments - thanks
