When you say adjust, do you mean shift or do you mean adjust? You should start with the easiest solution: give your drivetrain a really thorough bath by using Simple Green and a brush to clean it really well, then lubricate your chain with the proper chain lube. If the problem persists, e-mail me and i will give you a detailed description of how to adjust the drivetrain.

How do I get the gears to work again on my Schwinn Mesa GSX Mountain Bike?

The shift cable is likely too loose, but there are multiple items to tighten, lubricate and adjust on just the derailleurs, let alone the rest of the bike, before it's safe and ready to ride. I would suggest you get some assistance from a more knowledgeable friend, a bike co-op or a bike shop.

I have a SRAM 3.0 rear derailer. It is difficult going into the two largest gears, I have a 7 speed cassette. I notice there is no barrel adjustment on it. Any suggestions

The barrel is for fine tuning the indexing among the gears. Limit screws set the inner and outer physical swing of the derailleur.

A simple web search for "Sram 3.0 Mountain Bike Rear Derailleur adjustment" finds the manual.

There IS a barrel adjuster.

Chances are that water condensation in the gas tank has collected in the carb float bowl. There should be a drain plug on the float bowl. Go ahead and drain the bowl with the gas valve turned off. After the bowl has drained, turn the gas back on and let the gas tank drain a half cup or so. This should rid the tank of water. No adjustments are needed. Your carb has a plug on the bottom of the bowl. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_180.gif

How do i adjust my rear disc brakes on my appollo vulcan mountian bike?

Download the Apollo Owners manual for overall advice.

It says to check the brand of the brake and refer to ITS manual.

I can't find what that brand and model might be for your bike.

Once you determine it, Google search for the company and a manual.

With Avid being the most comon of mechanical disc brakes, you may find this helpful...

Here are some suggestions for you to try.If there is any kind of adjustment try that first. If that doesn't work then I would have your clutch inspected for extreme wear if it hasn't been changed.

Hello there! My mom just bought me a $300 Schwinn Melee from a Fred meyers in Newport Oregon. Beautiful Bike However there wasn't any instructions about the Shimano gear shifters. I'm doing something...

first identify the problen is it front or rear derailuer.secondly bike shop mechanic hate cheap mass produced bikes because they do not sell them
so lets solve your problem, okay sometimes this can be an adjustment if its bunching on front then first read your owners manual to see which gears are compatible, sometimes it will suggest not using certain gears, secondly if yhe chain has fallen off and got jammed it may be bent and need replaced visually confirm if the chain is straight.okay if it is not the chain then the length and length adjustment can be changed using the adjustment on the rear derailuer look and you will see 3 screws located on it the two with L /H are for adjusting the gear stops l is for low gears,so it does not go too far and wedge between the gear and spokes,H is for the small gear(high)if it goes past and falls off adjust this one.lastly the one located at the very rear adjusts chain tension the loosening of this one will relax the chain and apply more chain on the gears   tightening of this one will tighten the chain, adjusted properly your chain should not bow down over adjustment will cause chain if there is too much slack in the cable that is adjusted by the adjusters on the ends of the cable where it meets the shifters, learning to adjust your bike will save you a lot of money in the long run.
hope this helps

I have a 5speed manual transmission and it sounds as if the gears are grinding while driving in all gears. The transmission shifts ok, and does not slip, just makes the noise. Can the gears be out of...

The clutch needs an adjustment. What's happening is the clutch isn't completely engaging while you shift, causing the grinding. Once properly adjusted, the grinding will disappear.

Clutch friction is middle ways instead of grabbing from floor.

should be auto adjusting, clutch is probably going out, you will notice it beginning to slip in high gear as it wears out more
