Question about Pioneer DEH-2100 CD Player

At high volume sound shuts off, subs still work

I recently installed this cd player in my car. It came out of another car and was working perfectly. It is hooked to 4 factory speakers and a kicker amp powering a 10" sub. When I turn it up loud (it happens at different loudnesses, but not low) the 4 speakers stop playing but my sub keeps going. I have to shut the head unit off then turn it back on and everything works again. It does this almost constantly. Any ideas?

Re: At high volume sound shuts off, subs still work

You most likely have a shorted or damaged speaker, which is causing the internal amp chip to shut down (but does not affect the preamp outputs). A test you can do is to fade to one speaker at a time and turn it up to se if it shuts down. Repeat with each speaker until you find the one that causes the fault. Then replace it.

Cda 9885, When in tuner mode sub does not play

Does you car volume get lower when you stop. If not sounds like an internal issue. No sound at all my brother hooked his up and when he switched to tuner everything would go through the subs but you would not know it sounded like his 6x9s no bass. was a wiring issue. I dont know if this helped or not.

No sound to the subs

Possible solution: Check to make sure your ground connection is connected to metal that is NOT covered in paint. This is not a solid connection and can ruin your amp over time. Simply scrap away the paint and re-connect. This was a problem i ran into recently.

Tuner works, however I have no sound for the cd or auxilliary players (MP3/IPOD) Cd's are playing, just no volume

If this was recently installed - chances are good that your installer used the wrong amplifier turn on wire.
You have the amplifier remote and power antenna wires reversed.... so when the am/fm radio turns off, it drops the signal on the antenna - and it retracts.
When you switch to a different source - your amplifier loses its turn-on lead power, and shuts off.
Reverse the blue & Blue/White wires, and you will be fixed. :D

Swapped out cd players now getting high pass through subs

this is very easy...just unplug the rca cables out of the back of the deck, and plug them into the "subwoofer" output. On some alpine decks this is on a "pigtail" wire that extends from the deck. Once this is connected to the right output, you can control the subwoofer level from the volume knob by pressing it inwards.
Also.... your amplifier should have a low pass filter, it should be on a switch marked "LPF". Make sure this is switched on.

Sound shuts off, sub still works

That is a common problem with this radio, for it can not go to loud without going down in volume or shutting down.
