Question about Philips Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD Recorder
My recorder and player are set up so that one is on top of the other. When trying to use one, the other responds. How can I change the codes on the remote control so that I can control each one separately? It is not feasible to physically separate them.
Remote controls use infrared beams to control their components. Since infrared is limited to line-of-site, simply blocking the receiving window on one or the other component will keep it from getting the remote's signal. Just put a piece of paper or cardboard in front of one of the components. Activate it with the remote and then move the paper/cardboard in front of that component and activate the other. Not the most elegant solution, but it might get you what you need.

Make a cover out of card stock and tape it over the top machine when you don't want to use it just flip the cover down over the front where the sensor is.
